The Sway and Slide of Love

Chapter 538

When Noelle stepped out of the restroom, she happened to hear Seline say, "Please stop drinking. It hurts me to see you like this. Ugh!"

Seline was standing in front of the mirror, washing her hands while mimicking what Angela said to Hendrix. She had never liked Angela, but after tonight, her dislike had turned into outright disgust.

Noelle glanced at her and said, "She hasn't done anything to you, so why do you hate her so much?"

"Why do I hate her?" Seline widened her eyes as if Noelle had asked the most bizarre question.

"Why should I not hate her? Did you see how fake she was acting? And wasn't she subtly taking digs at you? She was basically saying you and Hendrix are ancient history! It's ridiculous! I wasn't even talking about that long ago when she was out shopping and checking into hotels with that other guy.

"Is Hendrix out of his mind? How can he even stand to be with a woman like her, who has nothing going for her? Do you think he's doing this just to provoke you? Honestly, I can't think of any other reason. Just the thought of having to see that woman again makes me sick. Why do you keep pulling me?"

Seline's words came out like a rapid-fire barrage, impossible to stop. Throughout the entire exchange, Noelle had tried to interject, but she couldn't get a single word in. In the end, all she could do was tug hard on Seline's hand.

Irritated, Seline furrowed her brows and shot Noelle an annoyed look. But Noelle wasn't looking at her.

The moment Seline noticed her gaze was fixed on something behind her, she immediately realized something was wrong. She quickly turned around, and standing at the entrance of the restroom was the very woman she had been tearing apart moments ago, smiling at them both.

Noelle had overheard plenty of gossip and badmouthing in restrooms before, but she never imagined she'd be the one caught in the middle of it.

Even Seline was momentarily stunned by the situation. But she wasn't afraid, since she had never considered Angela a threat. So, after a brief pause, she straightened up and raised her chin, meetingo Angela's gaze head-on.

Angela, however, didn't say a word. Instead, she smiled at them and headed

further into the restroom, as if nothing had happened.

Her reaction left Seline momentarily speechless. Then, she frowned and asked, "Aren't you going to say something?"

Her question was directed at Angela.

Angel paused mid-step and turned to look at her. "What?"noveldrama

Seline narrowed her eyes, staring her down.

It was only then that Angela seemed to realize something. She smiled and said,

"It's fine. I get it. Given your position, it's natural for you to hate me."

"You're wrong," Seline retorted. "It's not about my position. It's about what you've done. Anyone would find it hard to understand or forgive. Well, except for Hendrix, that lunatic."

"Ms. Swift, are you talking about the time you say me at the mall?"

Angela thought for a moment, then explained seriously, "You've misunderstood. Nothing happened that day. He and I are just friends now. There's no rule saying exes can't be friends, right?"

"Who are you trying to fool?" Seline laughed coldly. "Would you have gone to the

hotel with him if you were just friends?"

"Yes, we were just chatting in the room. That's all."
