Theo went straight to their bedroom. When he opened the door and found it empty, he paused momentarily before turning toward the room Edward had set aside for Sierra.

The moment he saw her lying on the bed, his expression softened.

"What are you doing in this room?" He walked over and scooped her up effortlessly. He carried her out as he spoke.

Sierra let out a small gasp. Seeing it was him, she instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck. "I'm used to it."

Going from the warm, cozy guest room to the stark black-and-white master bedroom, she blinked up at him. "We're such different people. What made you decide to marry me?"

He sat down on the bed with her in his arms. Pulling his tie off, he tossed it aside. The shift in his demeanor made him seem more relaxed and even more attractive.

Her heart raced. She completely forgot to climb off his lap.

"Because I like you," came his honest response.

Her breath caught. Joy flashed through her wide, bright eyes, but she hurriedly turned away, avoiding his gaze. "Well... It's time for dinner. We should head downstairs."

He chuckled and patted her waist lightly. "Do you want me to carry you down, or are you walking on your own?"

"I'll walk on my own!" It was only at that moment that she realized she was still nestled in his arms. She jumped up in a hurry.

He stood up and took her hand as they walked downstairs. "What did you do today?"

She chattered about what she had for lunch, how she spent her time writing poems with Edward, and the new flowers planted in the garden. Finally, she complained about how awkward it was seeing Benson and his family.

Watching her speak so openly, he was certain she had completely let go of the past. His smile became even gentler at this knowledge.
