Chapter 188
Chapter 188:noveldrama
“Security,” I said into the receiver. “Get in here. Now.”
Vanessa tried to step in again, her voice shrill. “This isn’t why we’re here, Alex! This is about that Graham woman, isn’t it? She’s—”
“Enough,” I snapped, cutting her off.
Security arrived promptly, their presence a cold reassurance as they stepped into the room. My voice was steady as I pointed at Eliza. “Tie her up and lock her in the basement until the police arrive,” I instructed. My tone left no room for argument.
Eliza’s eyes widened in panic as two guards stepped forward. She thrashed weakly in their grip, her voice a frantic, pleading mess. “Alex, please! You don’t have to do this!”
I didn’t look at her. I couldn’t. My jaw was clenched so tight it felt like it might crack. Instead, I pulled out my phone and called the police. When they answered, I kept my explanation brief, my voice cold and detached. “There’s evidence of attempted murder involving Eliza Sinclair. I’m sending you the video now.”
By the time I hung up, Eliza’s cries had devolved into unintelligible sobs. The security team stood at the ready, waiting for my final command.
“Take her,” I said, my voice sharp.
As the police arrived and led her away, I turned to Vanessa. She stood frozen in place, her face a mix of defiance and guilt. Her arms were crossed tightly over her chest, a flimsy barrier against the confrontation she knew was coming.
I took a deep breath, forcing myself to remain calm. “I’m disappointed in you, Vanessa,” I said, my voice quieter but no less cutting. “You hurt my son—my own flesh and blood. You stood by and let Eliza do what she did, knowing what it would cost.”
She opened her mouth, but I held up a hand to stop her.
“This is the last day I’ll recognize you as my sister,” I continued. Each word felt like a hammer striking a nail into a coffin. “Whatever bond we had, you destroyed it. Get out of my house.”
Vanessa’s face twisted with a mix of anger and indignation. “This is because of that Graham bitch, isn’t it?” she spat, her words venomous. I didn’t respond. I didn’t need to. The silence between us spoke volumes.

She waited, her eyes searching mine for any sign of hesitation, but there was none. With a sharp inhale, she spun on her heel, gathering her things with jerky movements.
“I’m not sorry,” she said over her shoulder as she reached the door. Her voice was cold, brittle. “You’ll regret this, Alex.”
I didn’t answer. The door slammed shut behind her, and the house fell into an almost deafening silence.
For a moment, I stood there, staring at the empty space where she’d been. Then I exhaled slowly, the weight of what had just happened settling over me like a heavy blanket.
I returned to the Graham estate, my body feeling like it carried the weight of the world. Each step felt heavier than the last, as though the exhaustion wasn’t just physical but emotional too. My shoulders slumped under the unseen weight of guilt, anger, and frustration.
As I walked through the door, Dominic was there, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. His sharp eyes immediately zeroed in on me, dissecting every inch of my expression.
“What the hell happened to you?” he asked, his voice a mix of curiosity and a rare flicker of concern.
I ran a hand through my hair, sighing heavily. The words left my mouth before I could soften their impact. “I had Eliza arrested.” Dominic’s eyebrows shot up. He pushed off the wall, his stance growing rigid. “Eliza? Arrested?” He gave an acknowledging nod before muttering underneath his breath. “About time.”
My eyes instinctively sought Raina, who sat stiffly on the couch, her hands tightly clasped in her lap. She wouldn’t meet my gaze, but her tension was palpable. Even from across the room, I could see the way her shoulders tightened, her breath catching almost imperceptibly.
