Shunned By An Alpha, Cherised By A Lycan

Chapter 268

Chapter 268:

I strode through the halls, my boots echoing on the wooden floors. Pack members I passed dipped their heads in respect—or fear. Probably both. I didn’t slow down for anyone, my thoughts a storm of frustration and desire.

By the time I reached the office, my patience was hanging by a thread. I pushed open the door, ready to bite Kade’s head off for interrupting my morning.

But the sight that greeted me froze me in place.

I slammed the office door behind me, my eyes immediately narrowing on the scene in front of me. Isabelle was pinned between two guards, her wrists shackled, her hair tangled, and her eyes flashing with defiance. Kade stood beside her, his jaw clenched so tight I thought his teeth might shatter. That look of pure audacity made my blood boil hotter.

I clenched my fists, my knuckles cracking under the pressure.

I took a step forward, and the room dropped ten degrees. Isabelle’s confidence faltered for a fraction of a second. She tried to mask it with that same arrogant smirk, but I saw through it. I always had.

“What did she do?” My voice was low, deadly. It made sense for Kade to call me with such an urgent tone and have Isabelle tied up.

Kade’s eyes darkened. “She tried to poison the Rogue Alpha. If I hadn’t caught her, he’d be dead. She panicked because she knew he was about to talk.”

It hit me. I wasn’t just an Alpha for jokes.

Calculative? Yes.

Smart? Yes.

Logical? A big fucking yes. I could boastfully say I possessed all these qualities.

A slow, cold fury started to churn in my gut. My gaze snapped to Isabelle, and she shrank back just a little. Just enough to satisfy that primal part of me that wanted her to fear me—to understand just how royally she had fucked up.

“Is that true?” My voice was dangerously calm.

The room went cold. Every ounce of control I’d managed to scrape together shattered. Wolfsbane? After everything she’d already done?

She lifted her chin, trying to summon whatever bravado she had left.

“So what if it is? He was a threat.”

A threat? I could already read the meaning in her words.

I took another step closer, my fingers twitching with the need to wrap around her throat.

“He was a loose end. One that could’ve exposed you.” I immediately calculated, just as I had earlier. It takes an insider, a fucking traitor, for the Rogue to have access to attack just out of the blue.

Isabelle was that traitor?

Her eyes narrowed, but the flicker of fear behind them betrayed her.

“You were covering your tracks,” I growled. “You thought killing the Rogue Alpha would keep your secrets buried. But you didn’t count on getting caught, did you?”

Her lip curled. “You don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Fear. I could read the meaning in her eyes already. She was damn scared. She did it… it came to me, replaying like a vision.noveldrama

How did it ever get to this? She had always been a sweet soul, a nice girl. But when did she turn devilish? Isabelle could be everything, but a traitor—a conniving person?

I lunged, my hand shooting out to grab her jaw, forcing her to look me in the eyes. My wolf, Ace, snarled just beneath the surface, ready to tear her apart.
