Secrets Of The Neglected Wife

Chapter 1314

Chapter 1314:

Colton let out a low, humorless chuckle.

“You’re bored, you say? At home?”

He suddenly took out the surveillance photos of the company’s entrance and tossed them in front of her.

“Weren’t you coming in and out of the company like some deranged stalker?”

Melany was covered from head to toe in the photos. She had a face mask, a hat, and an oversized coat that reached her shoes. Despite this, some of the angles taken revealed her profile.

“You had me tailed?” Melany blurted out, stunned by the unexpected turn of events. These photos were ironclad evidence, so she knew that making up excuses would be futile.

Still, the crux of the matter was the inevitability that Colton would no longer favor her like he used to.

“Well, I admit that I’ve been visiting the company in the last few days,” Melany said slowly as she grappled with the panic surging in her chest. “But it’s only because the company is currently facing huge problems. You never tell me anything, so naturally, I was worried.”

Even at this point, Melany still tried to divert his attention from her visit to the finance department.

Colton’s disappointment doubled.

“You and I both know that not a single word that just came out of your mouth is true.”

He had almost succumbed to anxiety upon learning the truth. The Stevens family was collapsing as it was, and this… this was just the cherry on top!

The only piece of good news that broke through the cloud of despair hanging over his head was that of Keanu receiving help from Allison.

Not only had she given him a large sum of money, but she had also sent Keanu to a professional facility to enjoy his twilight years in peace and comfort.

Colton surmised that Allison had done it all out of consideration for their past relationship, so he had been trying to get in touch with her in the past week.

Each time, he was met with short, cold rejections.

Was she really so heartless?

But he knew that he was no longer worthy of Allison, especially now that she had been revealed as the daughter of Fabian and Lilyana.

Colton turned his computer screen around so that it faced Melany. He opened a file—more evidence—and spoke in a flat tone.

“I was aware that the company was facing some setbacks, so I had it investigated as soon as I caught wind of the first signs of trouble. Imagine my surprise when I read the report and learned that you were involved in all this mess.”

His eyes flashed, and his face hardened.

“I went to the finance department today to take a look at the books myself. It didn’t take long for me to figure out that we have a traitor in our midst, someone who has been secretly siphoning funds from the Stevens Group.”

On the computer screen was a detailed list of transfer transactions.

All of them were done by Melany.

At that, she couldn’t even bring herself to guess just how much Colton knew.

“What are you trying to say, exactly? If the head of the finance department failed to flag the transactions, then you should have him arrested.”

“Oh, he already went to the police station to turn himself in.” Colton tapped a finger against his desk. “That way, he still has a glimmer of hope for a reduced sentence. What about you, though?”
