Chapter 1795
Sophie seemed completely taken aback by the man in front of her. Seeing her expression, Odie couldn't help but question if he'd been too harsh earlier. Why else would Sophie look at him like that? Right, this was the beginner version of Sophie, not the confident, savvy Sophie who could match his wits any day. The Sophie standing before him now was just an ordinary girl.
Odie took a moment to think. How do you even talk to an ordinary girl? He looked puzzled; interacting with everyday girls wasn't something he'd ever done. Sophie seemed scared to death of him, her eyes wide like she was staring down a wild animal.
"Dude, that's not how you go about winning a girl's heart!" one of the guys chimed in. "I get that Sophie's quite the sensation here at school, but you're way too intense!"
During the break, two guys sauntered over, casually draping their arms around his shoulders. It was clearly their first encounter, yet they acted as if they were old pals. This irked Odie.
He frowned, saying coolly, "Hands off."
In his world, not just anyone could buddy up to him like that. In real life, if someone heard Odie talk like that, they'd probably back off, maybe even apologize. But these two college kids didn't seem bothered at all; instead, they cheekily patted him on the shoulder.
"Come on, man, we're all dudes here! If you're really into her, we'll help you out! Anyway, we're classmates now. Once we grab our textbooks, let's hit the basketball court. Tonight, dinner's on me at the Westside Diner."
Odie had zero interest in their juvenile antics. After spending two minutes in this forced chat, he glanced up only to find Sophie had disappeared. His eyes narrowed.
Just as he was about to shrug off a classmate's hand, the guy clapped him on the shoulder again: "Don't be shy, join us! I said it already, my treat tonight—no one else is paying!"
Without giving Odie a chance to decline, they dragged him along. He kept a grumpy expression the entire time. Why was he even going to play basketball with these clueless college kids? And on such anoveldrama
rundown court?
Eastwood College's courts were usually top-notch, shared by students and faculty alike. But with all the freshmen around, it was packed. The guys with him expertly snagged a spot and waved him over.
"Come on, don't let this great spot go to waste. I worked hard to get us in!"
This so-called "great spot"? And they had to scramble for it? Odie suddenly felt thankful he never went to college. How could anyone enjoy basketball in such a setting? The court was open-air, cramped, and the equipment was subpar Even the basketballs were deflated
But then he reminded himself it was all a dream, and maybe experiencing the life of a broke student wasn't so bad. Taking the basketball, he effortlessly broke through their defense and made a smooth layup. He wasn't even trying hard, yet the college guys around him gaped like they'd never seen anything like it.
What do you think?
