Chapter 358 Taking the Bait
Benson's eyes flashed with resentment. He believed that it was Theo's fault. Sierra would not have broken up with him so decisively if Theo had not appeared.
He knew that Sierra did not have anyone else to rely on. That was why he had always taken her for granted, believing that she did not have any other choice but him.
Yet, he had never expected Sophie to fall pregnant or Theo to suddenly appear and pursue Sierra as well.
Throughout everything, Benson still refused to believe that he was in the wrong. In fact, he had blamed it all on Sophie's greed and how she had trapped him with a child.
Of course, he hated Theo the most. He was sure Theo had taken advantage of the situation to steal his girlfriend.
Compared to how lively the Gray Manor was, the atmosphere at the Shaw family was particularly quiet.
William found Vera's company to be dull and boring, so he left early in the morning to be with his friends.
On the other hand, Xavier had been swamped with the collaboration with the Gray family, so he went to work overtime at the company instead.
Vera had called Sierra in secret before returning to her room to rest.
At the Yozier bar, William was sitting in a corner booth and talking to someone as he had his arms around a scantily-clad young woman.
Every now and then, the woman would feed him some fruits, and his expression would be filled with satisfaction.
Suddenly, a loud noise sounded from the table behind him, causing him to jump in shock. He immediately frowned and turned around.
The man who had slammed his hand on the table looked excited as he
exclaimed, "Mr. Clark, are you for real?"
William's curiosity was piqued, and he swallowed down his complaints.
"I can guarantee you that everything is legit. I got the news from an inside source.
I can assure you that you'll only make a profit. You won't lose a dime either," the man, Johnny Clark, mentioned.
Then, he leaned back confidently in his chair, looking as though everything was under his control.
Still standing there, the other man was still suspicious, asking worriedly, "How can I earn such an opportunity to partake in such a good investment scheme? Is this some kind of scam?"
William nodded alongside, not believing that a business would have a project that had a guaranteed profit. He chuckled and prepared to turn back around.
"Do you know where I got my information from?" Johnny asked mysteriously.
The other man shook his head, while William, who had been turning back, froze midway. His eyes began darting around quickly.
"I got it from someone within their upper management who's related to me by blood. That company from abroad that I've told you about is planning to enter the domestic market.
"They aren't aware of the dynamics within the country, so they're planning to find some local partners.
"Honestly, they're looking for big investors. Small-time players like us aren't even on their radar. You wouldn't even get a chance to invest if it weren't for my connections."
Johnny looked smug, resembling a cat who had just stolen a fish. Then, he took out his phone and handed it to the man. "Here, you can look at the company's credentials."
At that moment, William stretched his neck over, wishing he could pluck his eyeballs out and throw them onto the other table.
Suddenly, Johnny turned his head around, and their eyes met.
"I-I was just curious about the company you had mentioned," William explained awkwardly. "I might have heard of it."noveldrama
Johnny looked him up and down, seemingly trying to gauge his net worth.
"Have you ever heard of Shaw Corporation? I'm the CEO, William Shaw." William straightened his shirt and stretched his hand out.
Out of courtesy for how polite William was being, Johnny reached out to shake the proffered hand. "Are you the one who had married one of the Grays?"
William paused momentarily before he nodded. "That's right. Theo Gray is my son-in-law."
Even if he did not acknowledge Sierra as his daughter, he had to acknowledge Theo as his son-in-law.
Sure enough, Johnny's expression had softened upon hearing Theo's name. He then invited William over enthusiastically and mentioned, "Mr. Shaw, if you're interested in the topic, why don't you come over and join in on our chat?"
William had wanted to feign hesitation, but it was rare for such a good business opportunity to come by, and he could not let the opportunity slip away. "Sure."
What do you think?
