Hearing the various guesses and sarcastic comments from the crowd, Caitlin couldn’t keep her composure any longer. Tears began to roll down her cheeks. She tried not to cry, but her pride was deeply wounded. Beth’s actions tonight were all aimed at disgracing her.

Beth looked at Caitlin with impatience. “Drop the pitiful act. If you don’t get me that water, you know what happens when you disobey me. Don’t you want a peaceful night’s rest?”
