“What made you say that?” asked Dolores.

Jasmine paused and then said, “You were a successful career woman and you don’t have to depend on anyone, but now, you gave up your career to stay home and be a housewife.”

Jasmine felt it was unfair that women had to hide behind their men. The state of a family should depend on the cooperation of both parties.

Dolores smiled and said, “Confused?”

Jasmine was puzzled and asked, “Confused about what?”.

“You said that a family should depend on both the husband and the wife. “Will you pursue your career in the future?” asked Jasmine to Dolores.

Dolores said no. She had already transferred her store in C-Town to Theresa and therefore would not meddle with it any further.

She smiled and said, “I’m not afraid of her leaving me. If anything, I’m keeping an eye on your finances. If he leaves me, I will be able to live a comfortable life without worry.”

“Didn’t you say you could take him down? Why are you both quiet now?” Michael was sitting by a pond and said sarcastically, “I must be crazy to believe you. Now it’s obvious I’ve gone against him and I won’t have it easy from now on. He will definitely make things difficult for me.”

Wendy frowned, “I had made the necessary arrangements, how could you screw things up, or are you just a mess? No wonder you can’t get promoted.” She was infuriated. She had met her former future husband at the restaurant and had lost face. She wanted revenge.

Michael scoffed as he heard her ridicule her, “No wonder Boyce wants nothing to do with you.”

Wendy was caught off guard, lost her balance and fell to the ground. She hit her elbow during the fall and began to bleed.

“Are you crazy?” She glared at him angrily.

Michael looked at her coolly, “Yes, I am indeed crazy. Otherwise I wouldn’t have joined your scheme to frame someone. Now I will be honest and denounce the others. You will face the consequences of your actions and not your father.”

“Don’t forget you’re involved.” Wendy stood up and grabbed his shirt, “Will Boyce go easy on you when he finds out?”

“All I did was talk when the inspectorate came to investigate it. You were the one who filed the complaint and sent the money, what does that have to do with me?”

Wendy gave him a wide-eyed look and then asked, “Are you pretending to burn bridges with me?”

Michael scoffed, “I didn’t. Boyce is still the sheriff. No one is threatening his position. Now the investigation just goes through procedure. Now not only have I gained nothing, but on the contrary, I’m being smeared. Don’t come after me again.” He then walked away.

Wendy stood in place and stunned for a long time. She could not understand how this plot was foiled by Boyce.

Boyce stopped the recording and put his phone away. He walked away nonchalantly, but he already had in mind what he was going to do next.

Wendy was a nasty woman who had repeatedly tried to harm Jasmine. Now the plot was against her and who knew what form it would take next time. She had to do something about it and not let the matter rest. Otherwise, he would have no peace.
