Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now

Chapter 895

Chapter 895:

“Thanks,” Hadley said, though she’d brought her own. She took it anyway. “How much? I’ll cover it.”

“Forget it,” Ayla said, waving it off. “It’s just water. Next to Mr. Flynn’s Red Shell Bistro spreads, it’s pocket change.”

She plopped down beside Hadley, eyes glinting with nosiness. “Mr. Flynn’s got a soft spot for you. Is he picking you up today?”

Caught off guard, Hadley paused, but then shook her head. “No.”

“Why not? Got a business dinner or something?”

Before Hadley could respond, her phone chimed. It was a text from Denver. “Hadley, can we meet?”noveldrama

She hadn’t replied when another popped up—this time from Eric. “I’ll grab you after you’re done.”

Her brow furrowed instinctively. Truth be told, she’d rather dodge them both.

Eric was a no-brainer, and Denver? She saw no point in rehashing things.

But staring at Eric’s message, she wavered for a beat before texting Denver back. “Okay.”

Denver fired back fast. “I’ll come to you.”

So she sent him the when and where.

It was better this way—Denver still had unresolved feelings, and for his peace, she needed to set things straight.

After the session wrapped, she stepped out.

“Hadley!” Ayla chirped, latching onto her arm. “It’s Mr. Flynn! You said he wasn’t coming? He’s really sweet on you.” Hadley frowned, glancing over.

Eric stood by his car, waving her way.

She turned her head—and spotted Denver on the opposite side.

“Hadley!”

“Denver,” Hadley said with a nod, heading toward him.

Behind her, she could sense Eric’s stare turn frigid…

“Hadley,” Denver said, noticing Eric too.

Her demeanor confirmed it—they had indeed broken up. He smiled, popping his car door open. “Hop in.”

“Thanks,” Hadley replied, offering a small smile as she ducked inside. As they pulled away, she flicked her eyes to the rearview mirror. Her pulse jumped—a Bentley tailed them closely.

Eric was on their heels!

Denver caught it too. “Want me to lose him?”

“No need,” Hadley said, shaking her head. “Let him trail if he wants.”

“Fair enough,” Denver agreed, honoring her call. He added, “Let’s just ignore him.”

His remark jolted Hadley. She froze, taken aback.

What prompted that phrasing? Did he know more than he let on?

Hadley and Denver sat across from each other.

Denver picked up the menu, scanned it briefly, then looked up with a smile. “What do you think of these dishes?”
