Chapter 871
Chapter 871:
Back then, she quit due to her pregnancy—having no idea it was a child that was never meant to stay.
Life had thrown her a few curveballs, and after leaning on Blanche’s patience one too many times, rejoining the troupe was off the table.
“Oh, goodness,” Elvin said, his eyes sparkling as he squeezed Hadley’s hand a little tighter. “Hadley, I’m in a real pinch—you’ve got to help me out!”
“Huh?” Hadley blinked, laughing lightly. “Mr. Webster, don’t put it like that!”
“I’m dead serious!” Elvin insisted, his face a picture of desperation. “Adonis is casting for his new film—a role for the most breathtaking woman imaginable. We’ve run through a parade of actresses, but he has shot them all down. Says they’re not dazzling enough!”
Hadley’s gaze flickered with a spark of realization. Was Elvin angling to pick her?
“Hadley!” Before she could mull it over, Elvin barreled on. “Come on, bail me out! If it’s you, Adonis won’t have a single complaint!” Hadley’s hunch was spot-on.
Instinctively, she wanted to wave it off. “Mr. Webster, I don’t think I can…”
“No sweat!” Elvin cut in, sensing Hadley’s hesitation. “You won’t have to face the producer this time. Adonis has serious clout on this project—he is calling the shots!”
Hadley wavered, unsure how to sidestep the offer gracefully.
Elvin pressed on, egging her on. “You’re not tied to the troupe anymore, right? You’ve got time on your hands. It’s a small part, pays nicely—why not give it a whirl?”
Hadley’s brow creased, pondering.
“Please, Hadley, for old time’s sake, do me this favor,” Elvin begged, clasping his hands together. “It’s only a minor part—no pressure to dive into the business full-time. So, what’s your take on it?”

Hadley paused, caught in a moment of indecision.
Elvin had helped her immensely in the past, and her schedule now was indeed wide open.
“Well,” Hadley said, biting her lip. “Could I get a bit more info first?”
“Absolutely!” Elvin grinned, whipping out his phone. “I’ll text you the address. Swing by tomorrow morning, first thing!”
“Alright, then.” Hadley relented.
“Thank you, Hadley! You’re a lifesaver!”
As dusk settled in, Hadley bathed Joy and then settled her onto the bed, gently rubbing her hair dry with a towel.
Just as she neared the end, Melba entered, holding a small cup of medicine. “Joy, time for your dose,” she announced.
Joy’s face scrunched into a pout as she burrowed into Hadley’s embrace. “Mommy, it tastes awful.”
No one relished medicine, least of all a child like Joy.noveldrama
When her diagnosis first hit, Hadley had to get creative, dreaming up tricks to ease the bitter pills down.
Over time, Joy had grown used to it, swallowing them with less fuss.
Hadley’s heart melted, sensing her daughter’s plea for reassurance.
“It might not taste great, but it’s pretty incredible stuff,” she said warmly, bopping Joy’s tiny nose. “It’s like a little shield, keeping you safe and helping you feel stronger. Haven’t you been feeling a bit better lately?”
