Chapter 609
Lila handed Kieran and Amelia each a glass of water.
"Ame, you'll stay in the same guest room as last time. Cindy already cleaned it this afternoon and changed the sheets."
Amelia nodded, then headed upstairs on her own-she saw no point in being a third wheel.
In the living room, Lila sat down beside Kieran, wrapping her arms around his waist with a smile.
If Kieran wasn't sure whether she loved him, then she would just have to be more proactive.
After all, she was very good at pursuing someone.
The flowers were just the first step.
Next came sweet words, physical affection, and...
She smiled to herself. "Kieran, don't work so hard. Let me show you something."
Kieran didn't respond, but his gaze had already fallen on her palm. Soft and fair, her hand was empty.
"Doesn't it look like there's nothing there?" Lila's eyes curved playfully, her tone mysterious.
Kieran humored her, gently squeezing her palm. "There's nothing there."
"Don't blink. Three, two, one-"
She snapped her fingers, and suddenly, between her fingers was a delicate, pale green lisianthus flower. "Pretty, isn't it?"
Kieran didn't say anything, and Lila immediately felt a little deflated. "This was a magic trick I specifically learned for you. You don't like it?"
His gaze flickered. "For me?"
"Of course."
She tucked the small flower into the pocket of his shirt, then quickly shook off her disappointment and brightened up again.
"No worries. If you don't like lisianthus, I have something else. Same rule, don't blink. Three, two, one-"
Her voice was warm and gentle as she snapped her fingers again. This time, an orange spray rose appeared in her palm.
Kieran's expression softened. He took the tiny flower from her hand and carefully tucked it behind her ear.
"When did you learn this?"
Lila touched the little flower behind her ear, still smiling. "I just learned it today and couldn't wait to show off. Did you catch any mistakes? Am I terrible at it?"
Kieran lowered his gaze. "No, it was perfect."
"Then that must mean I didn't pick the right flower for you."noveldrama
Still grinning, Lila hugged his arm. "Tell me, what's your favorite flower? Or what kind of flower would you like? It doesn't even have to be a flower. Whatever it is, I promise I'll make it appear for you next time."
Kieran tapped her forehead lightly with his finger.
Their eyes met, and something flickered in the depths of his gaze.
After a moment, he chuckled softly. "Jasmine."
"Jasmine?"
Lila hesitated for a second.
It wasn't easy to find jasmine in most flower shops. It was delicate and difficult to care for, and some people believed it carried an unlucky meaning.
Because of that, it wasn't a popular gift, and over time, florists stopped selling it.
But after a brief pause, she still smiled and said, "Alright, I'll bring you jasmine next time."
Kieran closed his laptop, then lifted her into his arms, carrying her to their room to rest.
The next morning, both of them woke up early.
As Kieran passed through the living room, his steps slowed when he noticed the pale green lisianthus sitting on the table.
He bent down and picked it up, his fingers lightly brushing against its petals.
Just then, Lila came downstairs. "What are you doing?"
"Nothing. I'll drive you to the office."
The flower rested loosely in his palm.
"No need. I'll probably be working late, so I'll drive myself. You should head to
work too. Finish up early and get some rest."
She bit her lip lightly. "Sorry, Kieran I'll be busy for a while, so I probably won't have much time to spend with you. But once things settle down, let's go on a trip together, okay?"
Kieran gave a small nod. "Alright. But no matter how busy you get, make sure you
eat properly and drink plenty of water when you have a break."
What do you think?
