The Queen Returns—And She's Unforgiving

Chapter 276

Blake was surprised. "He saved the damsel in distress?"

Tiffany simply smiled faintly, not saying much more.

Lucas raised his glass and gestured toward Blake. "I haven't had a chance to congratulate you on finding your match, Mr. Harrison."

Blake's lips curled into a smile. "Thank you, Mr. Grant. You're not far behind yourself."

He raised an eyebrow and glanced at Tiffany.

Lucas gave a nonchalant smile but didn't say anything else. As his gaze casually swept the room, he saw that the dance between Evelyn and Brian had just ended. Brian was the perfect gentleman till the end, escorting her back to her seat.

Evelyn hadn't danced like that in years, and with her health issues, she was indeed a little tired.

Brian, thinking for a moment, respectfully introduced himself, "I'm Brian Carter. Nice to meet you."

Evelyn studied him for a moment and could tell he was quite young, probably around 22 or 23.

She nodded slightly. "Hello, I'm Evelyn Reed."

Brian didn't say much, knowing that talking too much with someone newly acquainted might come off as awkward. After greeting Sebastian and Justine politely, he excused himself and left.

As soon as he walked away, Justine leaned over. "Ten out of ten, full marks."

Sebastian raised an eyebrow and laughed, making a more serious observation. "Not bad at all. Solid stats. Isn't he what they call... I don't know, a Golden Retriever or alpha wolf types or whatever?"

He added, "He's young, full of energy, and handsome."

Justine grinned. "Totally worth a try!"

Evelyn couldn't help but chuckle lightly.

Brian looked to be just a bit over 20, likely a year or two younger than her. The fact that he personally escorted her back was just him being a gentleman.

Evelyn took the entire thing as a joke, but before she could respond, she felt a gaze on her. She paused for a moment before turning her head slightly, only to be met with Lucas' piercing gaze from across the room.

He had likely noticed Brian escorting her back earlier. When their eyes met, Lucas smiled meaningfully, though it was more ambiguous than anything. He then leaned in closer to Tiffany, resuming their conversation.

Evelyn furrowed her brows slightly. What exactly did that look mean? But it wasn't her concern anymore.

She took a sip of her drink and casually glanced at the two teasing her. "Aren't you going to dance?"noveldrama

Her disinterest in continuing the conversation made them pause.

The atmosphere of the engagement party was leaning more toward a fun, social vibe, so why not make the most of it? They were already here.

Sebastian, as always, was in demand. In no time, several ladies had come up to invite him to dance. Deciding to join in on the fun, Sebastian headed toward the dance floor.

Elsewhere, Brian made his way to the drinks area and had just picked up a glass when Brandon approached him, clearly recognizing him. "When did you get back?"

Brian raised an eyebrow but didn't elaborate. "A few days ago."

Brandon, likely aware that Brian came from a notable family, assumed he was here to represent his family at the Clarks' engagement party. But his focus quickly shifted to the earlier interaction. He couldn't help but ask, his brows furrowing slightly, "Do you know the woman you danced with just now?"

Brian answered casually, "No, I just met her."

Brandon couldn't suppress his curiosity. "You're not... interested in her, are you?"

Brian's fingers lightly stroked the rim of his glass as he smiled, his eyes narrowing playfully. "I wouldn't call it interest."

But his smile held something more-a deeper meaning.

Because truth be told, he had fallen for Evelyn at first sight.
