The Queen Returns—And She's Unforgiving

Chapter 273

Sharron instinctively felt that Evelyn was implying that Sharron, as a mother, was not doing her job properly, suggesting that she had no right to demand anything from Evelyn. But she quickly dismissed that thought. Evelyn would never dare have such thoughts.

Evelyn didn't bother to care whether or not Sharron understood her intentions. She gave a slight nod and turned to leave.

Sharron frowned, watching Evelyn's retreating figure.

In the past, she would have been very pleased with Evelyn's behavior of pretending not to know her when out in public. But now, she couldn't shake the feeling of being offended.

The next day, Evelyn went to the hospital to meet with the senior doctor introduced by Harry, Devin Clay. He was under 40 and had come back from abroad with Harry. His office was filled with photos of them treating patients in various countries. He had been hired with a high salary.

After reviewing Leonard's condition, Devin said, "We can start scheduling for the surgery. Harry has mentioned it to me. Don't worry, I'll do my best."

Evelyn nodded in agreement. Her gaze, however, fell on a photo on Devin's desk, one that included both him and Harry. The name "Fergus" was written in Aelish on the photo, and Evelyn couldn't immediately recognize it.

Devin noticed her attention and smiled. "Fergus, that's his Aelish name."

Evelyn blinked in surprise.

Harry was the renowned expert, Fergus?

She had spent quite a bit of effort trying to track down Fergus. And it turned out that it was Harry all along.

...

As Evelyn returned from the hospital to Flying Seal Group, her mind was racing. Now that she knew Harry was indeed Fergus, she felt a renewed sense of hope. If he couldn't free up time to handle Leonard's entire treatment cycle and surgery, could they possibly work together with Devin to come up with a treatment plan? With that thought in mind, she headed upstairs. As she entered her office, Justine suddenly pulled her inside and handed her a gilded invitation.

"Here you go, Evie," Justine said, her expression complex.

Evelyn looked down and was surprised to see it was an invitation to Blake and Jessica's engagement party.

Justine furrowed her brows. "The invitation was sent directly from Finlay Tech. They sent one to me and Sebastian as well. Their engagement party is this Friday. Remember, during the charity gala hosted by the Clark family, Blake mentioned that if they officially got engaged, they'd invite everyone who attended."

Justine suddenly recalled how, at that gala, Lucas and Tiffany had stolen the spotlight. The two of them had made joint donations to several Hope Schools.

"Blake's secretary sent this over with a message from Blake. He said that since he didn't invite anyone from the Harrison family, he'll personally come to Flying Seal Group to invite you to his party if you refuse to attend."

"Will you go?" Justine asked. Knowing Blake's temperament, he was absolutely capable of doing whatever he said he would. And as for how he'd go about personally "inviting" Evelyn, chances were, it wouldn't be pretty.

Evelyn didn't react much to the invitation. Instead, she asked, "Do you mean everyone who attended the charity gala will be invited?"

Justine nodded. "Probably. We all received an invite, so the others likely did too.

It's a good networking opportunity. No one would refuse."

Evelyn nodded lightly, placing the invitation casually on the desk. "I'll go."

Blake's engagement didn't really matter to her. Whoever he married wouldn't affect her.

What interested her was that Harry had attended the charity gala, and with the Clark family and the Miller family having business dealings, he might attend as well.

Now that she knew he was the expert, Fergus, she thought it would be a good chance to subtly approach him and later bring up the idea of collaborating on the treatment plan. She didn't want to be too forward and seem impolite.

As for the engagement party invitation, it was just a convenient way to get closer to him.

It was finally Friday, and Blake's engagement party wasn't a traditional one. Instead, it took the shape of a laid-back celebration tailored to a younger crowd.noveldrama

An entire cruise ship had been rented for the event, with champagne, music, and non-stop dancing. After all, the weather had already started to warm up, making it a good time to host an event like this. By the time Evelyn and Sebastian arrived, guests were already boarding the ship.

Justine laughed and commented, "They're calling this an engagement party, but it really feels more like a social gathering among the youths. I've already fallen for eight handsome guys after just taking a brief look around. At this rate, I could date one each day and still never take a break."

Evelyn merely raised an eyebrow.

Sebastian walked ahead, clearly unimpressed with Justine's antics.

Evelyn couldn't help but shake her head, amused.

As they passed a group of people, the gaze of the person in the lead was drawn

to Evelyn's calm, smiling face. His steps suddenly halted. He then turned around to look at her retreating figure.

Someone beside him asked, "What's wrong, Mr. Carter?"
