The President’s Mistake A Tale of Love and Regret

Chapter 512 When the Past Meets the Present

Nathaniel's brow furrowed deeply, his eyes narrowing as he confronted Hudson's audacious remark. "What do you mean?" he demanded, a sharp edge to his

voice.

Koen and Ozzy exchanged uneasy glances, their expressions a mixture of concern and disbelief. They understood the gravity of the situation and were worried that Hudson's reckless comment might provoke Nathaniel further.

It was well-known that criticizing Mrs. Morgan in Nathaniel's presence was dangerous, but Hudson's words crossed a significant line. The air in the room grew tense, as if a storm was brewing.

"Please! If you want to bring about your own downfall, don't drag everyone else down with you. This is highly unethical."

Koen interjected, attempting to defuse the situation. His tone was laced with urgency, as he knew that Nathaniel's temper could be volatile.

Nathaniel, however, seemed to take Hudson's words seriously. He fixed a cold stare on him and demanded, "Go on."

Keep going?

Koen and Ozzy exchanged glances toward the door, wondering if they could make a quick exit if Nathaniel lost his temper.

Hudson, feeling somewhat off today, likely due to the Luna situation, seemed to be in a bad mood, as was Nathaniel. Their conflicting emotions, combined with the topic of discussion about women, had created a rather strange atmosphere.

Hudson, undeterred by the mounting tension, continued with a hint of arrogance, "A woman shouldn't be indulged. Look at Mrs. Morgan now she's becoming increasingly arrogant and taking you for granted."

He raised his chin defiantly. "There's an old saying: 'The tighter you hold onto sand, the more it slips through your fingers.' You need to give each other space. Overindulgence only leads to entitlement."

Hudson, known for his playboy ways, spoke with an air of expertise on the subject.

His demeanor was a blend of nonchalance and disdain, a sentiment only he seemed brave enough to express toward Nathaniel. His comments were reckless but carried a twisted form of logic.

He continued, "Mrs. Morgan thinks she's the only one you care about. She's got you wrapped around her finger. She believes she's irreplaceable and can treat you however she wants."

Nathaniel's expression darkened as he absorbed Hudson's words. The sense of betrayal and frustration was palpable in his eyes.

"You need to make her feel threatened; create some competition. If she realizes you're not exclusively hers, it'll stir her emotions. She'll likely come back to you, even eager to win your affection again," Hudson suggested with a smirk.

The room fell silent after Hudson's remarks, the other men puzzled by his logic.

They watched as Nathaniel wrestled with his feelings, caught between frustration and hope.

Nathaniel, cornered by his feelings for Freya, was desperate for answers. "Does that really work?"

Hudson feigned ignorance. "What do you mean by 'work'?"

Nathaniel's voice was tight with frustration. “I mean making her feel insecure and competitive. Does that really work?"

Hudson smirked, "Absolutely. Look at Mrs. Morgan now. She's been openly involved with other men, and yet you're still pampering her. If I were you, I'd find some attractive women and flaunt them in front of her to stir things up."

Nathaniel's expression darkened. "What if things go wrong? She's already submitted the divorce papers. What if she really leaves me?"

Hudson widened his eyes, incredulous at Nathaniel's seemingly weak question. His reaction seemed to highlight a certain cowardice.

"Are you afraid of her? A divorce agreement means nothing. She can't get a divorce without your consent."

Nathaniel's eyes twitched slightly, and a flicker of uncertainty passed across his face.

Hudson sneered, "Even if she submits the divorce papers, it still requires your signature."

"I've already torn them up!" Nathaniel growled, his teeth clenched.

Koen and the others fell silent, sensing the gravity of the situation.

Hudson clapped Nathaniel on the back, saying, "That's the way to deal with her."

"What if she decides to sue me?" Nathaniel asked, his anxiety evident.noveldrama

"Don't worry about lawsuits. Even if she does, there's a cooling-off period for divorces. We can make Mrs. Morgan regret ever trying to leave," Hudson replied confidently.

Nathaniel finally relaxed, leaning back in his chair as if a weight had been lifted off him.

Hudson was right; his previous leniency had only encouraged her to push boundaries. The audacity to even mention divorce was infuriating.

He snorted and pointed to the door. "You all can leave now."

Hudson winced but said nothing, feeling like a disposable tool. He left, reflecting

on how his role felt less significant than a disposable wet wipe.

Freya, shaken by Nathaniel's

late-night call, was now focused on getting Mason ready. She dressed him in a brand-new sports outfit that iga was a bit too large for his skinny frame.

Ignoring the size issue, she drove Mason to the East Saeville Nursing Home. Mandy, who had come to pick them up, was taken with Mason's appearance.

Despite being only twelve, his looks were strikingly handsome. He had fair skin, large eyes, and a prominent nose.

Mandy joked about needing to be younger to pursue Freya's brother, to which Freya responded with a teasing comment about being a pervert.

Mandy had also brought flowers and some potted plants. The three of them arrived at the nursing home and stood outside the hospital room.

Freya felt a knot of nervousness as they approached her mother's room.

Growing up, their mother had always favored Mason, while their father was more affectionate toward Freya. After the accident, Mason had been with their mother almost constantly.

During that crisis, Freya had been caught up in legal troubles orchestrated by Abigail. In that desperate moment, their mother had prioritized getting Mason out of Saeville.

"Mason, when you see Mom later, remember to talk to her, but don't cry. It will only make her heartache more," Freya advised gently.

Mason nodded, though the words only added to his anxiety. After four years of wandering in Pontenero, the idea of confronting his mother felt overwhelming and strangely

nauseating.

He had often felt this way when he tried to recall the past, experiencing a dizzying sense of discomfort.

Freya placed a comforting hand on Mason's shoulder and slowly opened the door, guiding him inside.

Mason looked at the woman lying in the bed, connected to various tubes, and with her eyes closed, the rhythmic beeping of the respirator filling the room.

He instinctively moved closer,

recognizing her from the many dreams she had appeared in. Tears welled up in his eyes as he carefully knelt beside the bed, gripping his mother's hand tightly and whispering "Mom" over and over.

Freya stayed at the door, unable to approach. She saw herself as the sinner of

the Gomez family, endlessly seeking forgiveness and redemption for herself and her loved ones.
