The Ex-Wife's Burning Elegance

Chapter 610

It was, admittedly, quite the surprise.

Jasper glanced over in Sellers' direction. "Where's Sellers? The auction's already started and he's still not back?"

Foreman, remembering how Sellers had been drenched, said, "He probably went to change his clothes."

"What? He went to change?" Jasper's eyes grew wide. "He harasses someone and then just goes to change his clothes? Don't tell me—”

Something seemed to occur to Jasper, and his expression turned complicated, as if struggling to find the right words.

"Wait, was it his pants that got messed up? Seriously? I always thought he was the charming type, but this is downright creepy!noveldrama

God, I don't think I'll ever be able to look at him the same way again!"

"Foreman, you said he got hit and still wouldn't leave, and then told her he'd remember her... Damn, is he some kind of masochist? Maybe he just likes getting humiliated?"

The more Jasper spoke, the more outrageous his theories became.

Those sitting nearby overheard Jasper's dramatic commentary, and couldn't help but give him sidelong glances. A few even started whispering amongst themselves.

"So Sellers is that kind of guy? That's disgusting."

"My friend's daughter has a crush on him... No way, I need to warn her about this so she doesn't end up making a huge mistake."

"To do something like that in public, at an event like this... isn't that going a bit far?"

"What do you know? Some people live for the thrill!"

By the time Sellers finally returned, dressed in fresh clothes, the bidding that had been ongoing came to an abrupt halt as people caught sight of him. For a moment, the entire room seemed to freeze.

Sellers frowned, not yet realizing what was going on. But he was no ordinary man -he was used to being the center of attention. Without so much as a flicker of emotion, he walked back to his seat.

Nearby, Aurora, Simone Lerman, and Sherman all wore less-than-pleasant expressions. They'd heard all about what had just happened.

Once Sellers sat down, Sherman couldn't hold back any longer.

"Uncle, what happened just now? Why is everyone... why are they all talking about you?"

Sellers noticed the odd look on Sherman's face and recalled the stares he'd received on his way in. His expression darkened.

"What are they saying?"

"They... they're calling you a creep. Some are saying you're a pervert..." Sherman's face flushed with embarrassment, and he hurried add, "Uncle, I know it's all just a misunderstanding. I know you'd never do something like that."

Sherman tried to soften the blow, but Sellers was sharp enough to immediately piece things together.

His face grew even colder. "It's Stella. I really underestimated her."

At the mention of Stella's name, Aurora's eyes flickered with interest.

"You met with Stella? What actually happened?"

Sherman glanced at Sellers, fully aware that nothing about Sellers and Stella meeting for the first time

could possibly go smoothly. Worried Aurora might get the wrong idea, he quickly jumped in to explain.

"Aurora, here's what happened... Earlier, Mr. Burton wanted to set up a date between Uncle Sellers and

Stella. Uncle couldn't refuse, so he agreed to meet with her.

That's why he missed your race last time—it was because of this."

Aurora looked truly surprised. "Mr. Burton wanted Sellers and Stella to go on a blind date?"

A cold, ironic smile traced Sellers' lips. "That woman's more cunning than she looks."

He turned to Aurora, his tone layered with meaning.

"Sherman once told you she always tries to steal whatever you have, and you didn't believe him. Well... do you still not believe it now?"
