Chapter 42
After lunch, Paisley was about to take Serena to the park. She walked over to the guest room and knocked on the door. "Rena and I are heading to the park. Are you coming with us?"
Grayson had locked himself in his room the whole morning. He'd gone out only once to use the bathroom but had otherwise stayed shut up inside.
Serena even sneaked him some water earlier, thinking Paisley didn't see, but she did.
Paisley had assumed Grayson would still be sulking and wouldn't want to go. If he didn't, she figured Serena would have to skip the outing too. After all, Paisley couldn't leave a seven-year-old home alone. Just as she was about to tell Serena they'd go later, the door to the guest room opened. Grayson stepped out, fully dressed and standing in the doorway. "Okay, let's go."
Paisley answered, "Alright, let's go. Put on your shoes."
Seeing that Paisley didn't say anything more, Grayson let out a quiet sigh of relief, but then his expression grew dim.
He couldn't help thinking to himself, 'Why isn't she scolding me? I didn't eat breakfast, wasted food, threw
a tantrum, and slammed the door... But she's not even saying anything? She used to always say something when I acted like this..."

As Paisley focused on gently helping Serena sort her shoes, Grayson hung his head, quietly putting on his own shoes. However, he felt off in his heart like something was wrong, but he couldn't quite figure out what.
The park they were going to wasn't far-it was a community park in the area. It had a man-made lake surrounded by lush greenery, rocks, and trees, where people could row boats. There were also fitness areas and a children's play zone.
After playing for a while, Paisley found a spot near some fake rocks to sit down and rest. The two kids ran around and played freely within her sight.
Hidden in the background, two bodyguards kept an eye on them. On the other end of their radio, Dominick was on the line. "Mr. Vanderbilt, Ms. Sutton is at the park with Grayson and her daughter." Even though Dominick wasn't around the past two days, he'd made sure to keep a couple of guys watching over Paisley.
The reason for the bodyguards wasn't to spy on Paisley; it was to keep Grayson safe. After that kidnapping incident at his kindergarten, Dominick had taken extra precautions, ensuring someone was always in the background to watch over Grayson.
"Got it," Dominick replied. He had just returned to Harrowfell and was on his way to Paisley's house. "Has anyone else been to her place?"
"No," the bodyguard replied.
Dominick's brows smoothed out after he got the answer he wanted. When he glanced out the window, a flower shop caught his eye. He remembered a bouquet of fresh flowers on the coffee table at Paisley's place.
"Pull over," Dominick told his driver.
Julian asked in a confused tone, "What's going on, sir?"
"I'm getting something at the store." Dominick opened the door and got out, heading straight for the flower shop.
Inside the store, the clerk was trimming flowers when suddenly a tall shadow loomed over her, and she was startled.
She quickly looked up to see a tall, handsome man by the counter. He was easily 6'2" with broad
shoulders and long legs. Just standing there without saying anything, he was magnetic, not to mention his attractive face.
"Sir, can I help you?" the clerk asked, setting down the branch she was working on and walking over to him. "What kind of flowers are you looking for? Is it for someone?"
Dominick looked around the shop for a moment before answering, "I want pink flowers."
He remembered the flowers on Paisley's coffee table were pink. And that pink loungewear she wore looked so good on her.
"Sure, we have plenty of pink flowers," the clerk said, pointing to a nearby display. "These are all pink." Dominick's eyes landed on a bunch of pink roses beside him. They were different from the ones on Paisley's coffee table, but they looked even better. "I'll take them. Please wrap them up for me." The clerk confirmed the number of flowers and then started suggesting some complementary blooms before getting work on the arrangement. As she wrapped the flowers, she asked casually, "Sir, is this bouquet for your lover?"
The clerk thought, 'A handsome guy like him definitely has a girlfriend. How lucky the girl is to have a guy with perfect looks and body.'
Dominick raised his eyebrows and asked, "Why do you ask?"
The clerk explained, "Well, you see, pink roses symbolize unforgettable first love, special care, and a love for someone's radiant smile. They represent passionate love, a declaration of love."noveldrama
With every word she said, Dominick's mind kept drifting back to Paisley. Her image and smile were all there vividly.
A small smile tugged on Dominick's lips, and he nodded. "Yeah, she's my first love."
The clerk flashed a look that said she got it right, and with even more enthusiasm, she finished wrapping up the bouquet.

Meanwhile, in the park, the two kids, who almost ignored each other earlier, were now fighting over a blade of grass.
Paisley saw that their squabble was just harmless bickering, and their voices were at a level that wasn't disruptive, so she didn't bother stopping them. She figured they'd sort it out themselves.
Just then, her phone buzzed. Emery's voice called out, "Paisy, you at home?"
"I'm at the park near home. Why?" replied Paisley.
"Oh, I've got a client who sent me a ton of fruit and supplements, and you know me I'm all about the wine, not about fruit and supplements. So I asked Teddy to deliver them to you. He's on his way and should be there soon. Wait for him downstairs."
Paisley said with a teasing smile, "Come on, girl. Teddy's your boyfriend, not your personal delivery guy. You could've just called a courier."
"I'm drowning in work. I need to give him something to do. I hate him to pester me and delay my job. Honestly, besides the fun on the bed, the only thing he's good for is running errands. What else does he do?" Emery replied with an annoyed look.
"Alright, babe, I gotta go. Someone's looking for me." She hung up the phone, clearly distracted.
"Who was that, Mom?" Serena came running over and asked.
Paisley replied, "That was Emery. She said Teddy's bringing us some treats."
At the mention of Teddy's name, Serena's face lit up. "Is daddy coming?"
"No, not daddy. Teddy!" Paisley corrected her.
Serena had a habit of confusing "Teddy" with "Daddy". Paisley had tried to correct her, but occasionally, Serena slipped up.
"And you can't just call him 'Teddy', you have to say 'Mr. Graham'," Paisley added.
Serena giggled, her eyes sparkling. She liked Teddy. She liked all the good-looking men except Dominick. He was always so cold and intimidating, which scared her off.
What do you think?
