Chapter 896
Yvette glared coldly at the members of the DY Organization, even as she endured the bone-deep pain she was feeling.
"Why have you guys suddenly shown up here?" she asked with difficulty.
Varian grinned smugly. "We originally wanted to use Wesley as bait to lure you out and capture you. However, we didn't think you would actually fail to act according to our plan, so we had to change our plan instead!"
As expected, something had been fishy about the situation!
Heart sinking, she gazed at Varian. "So, you used Wesley as bait... How are you and Wesley related?"
"That's not for you to know," said Varian proudly instead of answering her question. "I'm going to give you two choices now. One, you come with me obediently and spare yourself the physical pain! Or two, we forcefully abduct you from here.
"If you're smart, you should know which option to pick!"
He assumed that Yvette would obediently follow them away, but unexpectedly, she declared, "I choose neither."
Her tone was arrogant.noveldrama
How dare she still remain so arrogant when she was at death's door?
Varian's expression instantly turned sullen, but before he could get angry, he noticed Yvette's pale face and the trembling of her hands that she was trying to suppress.
Her condition very much resembled those of the failed test subjects when they were experiencing the side effects of the drug...
His eyes widened in disbelief, shock and disbelief written all over his face.
He mumbled to himself, "To think that even this successful test subject will experience side effects... I originally assumed that only those failed test subjects would face side effects... This is truly strange!"
When she heard the casual way that he uttered the words "failed test subjects", the dense coldness in Yvette's eyes increased, and she looked murderous.
Those "failed test subjects" he didn't care one bit for were all living, breathing children! They were their parent's treasures, yet they had been kidnapped by these people through despicable means and turned into test subjects, living in suffering every day...
Evelyn's last wish before she passed was for there to no longer be any innocent children forced to suffer the pain of becoming a test subject.
And yet these people were so cruel and held no regard for life, willing to resort to any means in order to achieve their goal!
They deserved death!
Varian continued to mutter to himself, evidently incredibly puzzled.
"How strange! How very strange!"
However, the shock and disbelief on his face quickly disappeared, replaced by feverish enthusiasm.
"But it's alright!" he declared manically. "Once we capture you, we can just study you slowly!"
After all, Yvette was the only

The success of their final experiment was close at hand!
Varian trembled in excitement at the mere thought of it, already itching to use her in his experiments.
He laughed aloud, his sinister gaze landing on Yvette. "All of you, move forward together and capture her!"
The group of black-clothed men immediately answered respectfully, "Yes, sir!"
Seeing his men surround Yvette, he sneered disdainfully, his tone as scornful as it could possibly get "Cease your pointless struggle, Yvette. The side effects of the drug
aren't something you can bear!"
There had never been anyone who could resist the pain of the drug's side effects, much less a weak lady like her!
Varian grinned smugly, as if he could already foresee her miserable appearance once she was captured.
However, everything that happened the very next second wiped the grin from his face.
"Argh! It hurts... My leg's broken..."
The group of black-clothed men fell haphazardly to the floor, shrieking their eyes full of fear
