Chapter 853
"Thank you so much, young ladies!" The old man's face immediately lit up when Yvette and Madison agreed to it.
"You two are the most kind-hearted young ladies I have ever met. I can't thank you enough for this. Let's go now. The last thing I want is to make you late for your classes."
Madison shook her head and said thoughtfully, "It's okay. We're not in a hurry. Watch your steps, mister. Don't trip and fall."
The old man led them through increasingly remote paths, but Madison was so naively kind-hearted that she didn't notice anything strange about him at all. She was even concerned about his health.
"You can't just live on bagels, mister. It's not healthy."noveldrama
"Don't worry about it. Very soon, I will leave this penniless life behind."
Madison finally sensed something was off when she heard that, but she didn't give it too much thought.
"Here we are." The old man stopped in an alley that was both remote and empty. Then, a creepy smile appeared on his face.
"Hmm?" Madison raised her head and looked at her surroundings. She asked in a puzzled tone, "There isn't a shop that sells bagels here, mister."
The old man ignored her and shouted into the air, "I've brought them to you as you asked!"
"Well done." All of a sudden, a group of men dressed in black emerged from the bowels of the alley. One of them tossed a card at the old man.
"You can get your ass out of here now."
The old man immediately grinned from ear to ear when he picked the card up from the ground. "Alright. I'm gone."
Madison's face immediately turned pale as she looked at the group of ominous men. She finally realized that something was definitely wrong and hurriedly yelled, "They're bad people, Yvie. Run!"
"Where do you think you're running off to?" The group of men dressed in black immediately chuckled coldly. "Box them in."
Madison turned around and realized that the path behind them was also blocked off. They were surrounded, and there was nowhere to run.
"Yvie..." Madison had never run into this sort of situation. She was so scared that her legs turned weak. "It's all my fault. I shouldn't have followed the old man. I messed up, and worse yet, I dragged you with me. sŵnovel
"I'm going to distract them, Yvie. You'll seize the opportunity and run as fast as you can!"
Yvette knew that the group of men were out to kill. It took her a single glance to realize that they were professional hitmen who had taken lives before. More importantly, she was their target. They merely used the old man to deceive and lure her here.
Yvette patted Madison's hand, quietly offering the latter comfort. Then, she cast a nonchalant gaze at the group of men and said calmly, "You're all here for me. How about you let her go, and I'll leave with you?"
"No. You can't leave with them, Yvie." Madison immediately shook her head.
Although she didn't know who these men were, she could sense that they were highly dangerous people. If Yvette were to follow them, she would surely face a dire fate.
"You're not the one who calls the shots here, lady!" The group of men interrupted Madison rudely before resting their gazes on Yvette.
"You're right; you're our target. If we bring this moron with us, she would be nothing but a liability. So, we'll grant you your request and leave her alone if you follow us."
"Deal." Yvette raised her delicate eyebrow, and her tone was utterly nonchalant. "Get a move on, then."
The men were completely
dumbfounded by Yvette's reaction. Normally ladies would've been
scared out of their wits if they ramet
into situations like this. So, why was Yvette this calm? She even urged them to get moving.
"Are you guys coming?" Yvette raised her delicate eyes and shot them an
impatient look. "Make it quick."
What do you think?
