With her expression darkening further, Victoria calmly pulled out a perfume bottle and sprayed its contents at Martha.

"Weren't you just saying that you didn't want to see Yvie before, Mrs. Quinn Senior? You even said that you absolutely wouldn't acknowledge her as your granddaughter-in-law and that you would let me..."

Victoria trailed off at that point, choosing the perfect time to let a shy expression slip onto her face.

Jimmy saw this and quickly followed up, saying, "That's right! You personally said that the gentle and kind Ms. Olson was the perfect fit to be your granddaughter-in- law, Mrs. Quinn Senior! You even said that you absolutely had to get Mr. Quinn to marry her as soon as possible!"

Martha smelled that strange fragrance again, but she was surrounded by the cooler fragrance, which allowed her to keep a clear mind and no longer fall under control.

She exclaimed, "What horseshit! When have I ever said something like that?"

She had even started spouting profanities, which went to show just how angry she

was.

At those words, Victoria's expression changed in an instant. She stared at Martha in disbelief, eyes wide.

How... How could this be possible? She'd evidently increased the dosage of hypnotizing fragrance, so why had it still become ineffective toward this old hag?

As soon as she had spoken, Martha felt her head aching, and bit by bit she recalled everything that had happened in the past few days.

She had actually forced Wilson and Yvette to call off their engagement by threatening her own death!

She immediately panicked, hurriedly reaching out to grab Yvette by the arm as she pleaded, "Yvie, I don't know what came over me for the past few days for me to do something so brainless!"

She added, "I'm not allowing you and Will to call off your engagement! You're the one I acknowledge as my granddaughter, after all!"

She sniffled, then continued, "If you break off your engagement with Will, I won't be able to live anymore!"

Her own actions had made her lose the perfect granddaughter. She really deserved death for that!

Seeing Martha so anxious, Yvette reassured her warmly, explaining, "Relax, Mrs. Quinn Senior. We haven't called off the engagement. We simply made a show of doing so."noveldrama

Martha immediately sighed in relief, but before she could even feel happy at that, she recalled how badly she had treated Yvette over the past few days.

Tugging on Yvette's sleeve, she said remorsefully, "I really don't know what came over me these few days, Yvie. It's like I was possessed. e. sincerely apologize for my behavior, so can you please forgive me?"

Yvette had rushed back from overseas just to save her. If not for Yvette, she'd have been long dead How could she treat such a good granddaughter-in-law so badly, and even threaten her with death in order to force her to call off her engagement with Wilson?

"I don't blame you, Grandma," said Yvette reassuringly once more.

Then her gaze shifted over to Victoria, flashing coldly as she continued, "Someone was manipulating things behind the scenes."

When she met Yvette's gaze, Victoria had the feeling that she had been completely seen through, but quickly quashed the thought.

Impossible! There was absolutely no way Yvette could have found out! The formula for the hypnotizing fragrance had long been lost, so there were few people who knew of its uses and effects!

She must have used too little of it on Martha, which was what caused the damned

old hag to suddenly become clear-headed like this!

This was all because she had been

too kind! Knowing that the hypnotizing fragrance had severe side effects, she had been increasing the dosage bit by bit instead of exposing Martha to large amounts of it from the start!

Victoria gripped the perfume bottle in her hand tightly, eyes flashing viciously.

Today, not only was she going to continue manipulating Martha, nobody on the scene would be spared!
