Chapter 1197
Chapter 1197:
At Phoebe’s insistence, Eileen dressed in jeans, a T-shirt, a lightweight down jacket, and a baseball cap before heading out. She drove to the Meyers’ house, picked up Phoebe, and then headed to the club Phoebe had mentioned.
“They’re having a party this afternoon. Why are we going there this morning?” Eileen asked, glancing at Phoebe.
“You don’t get it, do you?” Phoebe replied, pushing her glasses down slightly. “Jacob left this morning. We need to see if he meets up with that woman, or if they drive separately. This way, we can gather more evidence.”
For the sake of Phoebe’s “evidence,” Eileen spent over half a day stuck in the car. She reclined her seat, removed her cap, covered herself with it, and began scrolling through her phone.
“Are you hungry?” Phoebe asked. She unfastened her seatbelt and added, “I’ll grab some food for you. You can make do with that.”
Seeing Phoebe’s flattering smile, Eileen let her go. Phoebe put on her mask and slipped into the club.
As soon as she left the car, a figure emerged from the shadows behind her. Milford, dressed in tattered clothes, leaned against the car, double-checking that it was indeed Phoebe. To his surprise, the car belonged to Eileen!
Milford quickly turned around and ran away. Eileen caught a glimpse of the fleeting figure in her rearview mirror. Based on his attire, Eileen guessed he was a worker from the nearby construction site, but his face seemed vaguely familiar. However, she didn’t give it much thought. He wasn’t with Jacob, so his actions were irrelevant to her.noveldrama

Phoebe returned with a large quantity of snacks and handed them to Eileen.
“The club doesn’t have warm food, so make do with this. I’ll treat you to a nice dinner tonight with my part of the divorce settlement,” Phoebe said.
Eileen put away her phone, opened a bag of snacks, and frowned. “You haven’t even caught him cheating yet, and you’re already thinking about the divorce settlement?”
Phoebe munched on a snack, replying, “I’ve made a list of our joint assets. There are three ways to split them. We’ll see which option he prefers.”
“I’ve never seen you so calculating, not even when you got married. You’re really invested in this divorce,” Eileen teased. “What if it’s all just a misunderstanding and you can’t get—”
Phoebe’s expression turned serious. “If we can’t get a divorce, I’ll rip that list and discard it. I can’t let him suspect anything, or it will damage our relationship. If it’s a misunderstanding and he finds out later, you need to help me,” Phoebe said firmly, looking at Eileen.
Eileen let out a scornful laugh.
“So, what’s my role? Am I here to take the blame?” Eileen thought to herself. She believed that if Phoebe succeeded in catching Jacob cheating, it would be Phoebe who would offend Jacob. However, if Phoebe failed, Eileen would have to come up with a convincing excuse and take the fall for her.
“Favor for a favor, I suppose,” Eileen said.
Phoebe smiled at Eileen and engaged her in conversation. Meanwhile, Raymond worked his way around the corner, where he could observe the club entrance without being seen. The only blind spot was where Eileen’s car was parked, which was out of his line of sight.
“Mr. Dawson, should we wait inside?” Raymond asked. “If we follow Milford after he enters, we might lose sight of him.”
