Reclaiming Her Heart

Chapter 1296 Warm Moments

Raymond had never taken care of anyone so meticulously before. He washed every inch of her skin until it was spotless, then dried her off with a towel before gently placing her on the bed.

He even thoughtfully wrapped her hair to keep it dry.

Raymond stayed by the bedside, not daring to leave, his eyes fixed on her face.

It seemed like he could never get enough of looking at her.

His fingertips lightly entwined with hers as he lay by the bed, not even considering getting into it himself.

Selena woke up at seven the next morning, her throat feeling scratchy.

"Raymond, what time is it?" she asked.

A glass of cool water was immediately handed to her. She caught his familiar scent and

felt instantly at ease.

"What time is it?" she asked again.

"Seven in the morning."

"How did I fall asleep last night? I remember hearing a lot of people talking."

"Victor gave you some medication."

Selena had already forgotten what she heard the previous night. Her mind had been foggy, and she couldn't recall anything clearly.noveldrama

But now, she felt great, refreshed and clear-headed.

"What kind of medication? I feel much better today. I've been feeling dizzy and having strange hallucinations these past few days, but now I can really feel you here with me. It's wonderful," Selena said.

She smiled as she spoke, reaching out to grab his hand.

Raymond pressed his lips together and slowly embraced her.

"If only we could stay like this forever," she continued.

Maybe because she felt better, her smile was more genuine.

Raymond didn't say anything, just held her quietly, looking into the distance.

His silence made Selena uneasy.

"What's wrong? Did something happen?"

"No, I was just thinking about what to make you for breakfast. I'll cook it myself."

Talking about him cooking reminded Selena of the time she had stabbed him, and she felt a pang of regret.

"Let me see your wound."

She reached to pull up his shirt, but Raymond caught her hand, holding it tightly as if she might disappear the next second.

Selena felt a sweet warmth and smiled.

"Selena, my wound is fine. It wasn't deep. I'll take you downstairs, and I'll cook while you sit in the living room and listen to the TV, okay? I'll have Max and Blizzard keep you company."

"Okay."

She agreed quickly, clearly missing Max.

When they got downstairs, she sat on the couch and heard a dog barking nearby. Soon, she felt something tugging at her pant leg.

It was Max.

She bent down and heard Raymond say, "I'll be in the kitchen making porridge."

"Okay."

Selena placed her hand on Max's head, and he eagerly nudged her hand.

The fluffy sensation was delightful. She petted him for about ten minutes before feeling the couch sink beside her. Judging by the weight, it was Blizzard sitting down.

She reached out and touched Blizzard's strong body.

From the kitchen, the smell of Raymond's cooking wafted over, making Selena feel warm and cozy.

Even though she still couldn't see.

She took off her shoes, curled up on the couch, and rested her head on Blizzard's body, feeling incredibly warm.

Raymond occasionally came out and saw a beautiful woman lying on a white animal, making her look even more angelic.

The scene was so lovely that he couldn't resist taking a picture with his phone, setting it as his wallpaper.

Back in the kitchen, as he stirred the porridge, his eyes reddened.

He felt a pang of sadness.

Taking a deep breath, he calmed himself, one hand holding the spoon, slowly stirring the porridge.

Selena smelled the porridge and was about to head to the kitchen when her phone rang. It was a call from the office.

Following the sound, she fumbled to answer it. It was Ronald.

"Hey, Ms. Fair, Ann didn't show up for work today, and no one can get a hold of her. There was a message in the company group this morning."

"What message?"

"Someone said Ann is working as a prostitute and even mentioned the hotel. Ann's mom is here at the office, causing a scene."

Selena felt a surge of anger. "What is her mother saying?"

Ronald struggled to describe the words.

"Ms. Fair, if you have time, you should come to the office," he finally said.

"Okay, I'll be there soon."

She hung up and called out to the kitchen, "Raymond."

Raymond took off his apron and came out immediately.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

"There's an issue at the office. I want to go check it out. Will you come with me?"

Raymond's brow furrowed. How could she go to the office in her condition? She needed to rest.

But Selena grabbed his sleeve, unusually pleading.

Raymond's frustration melted away instantly.

"I'll have the chef watch the porridge. I'll go with you, and we'll come back quickly for breakfast."

"Okay."

Selena was genuinely in a good mood today, linking her arm with his.

Raymond felt happy too, but then he remembered that in two days, he would have to let her go. The smile that had just appeared vanished, and he became deeply somber.
