Chapter 144
Chapter 144:
But Freddy acted as if she didn’t exist, staying firmly on his knees in front of Khloe, his eyes filled with unwavering reverence.
Casey, exasperated, stamped her foot and jabbed a finger at Khloe. “Uncle Freddy, have you completely lost it? She’s nothing but a small-time actress. What’s so great about her that you’re kneeling like this?”
Freddy’s face darkened at her outburst. Without warning, he stood and delivered a sharp slap across Casey’s face. “Enough! What do you even know? She’s our boss! Without her, the project would’ve been a complete failure. How dare you speak to her like that? You’re asking for it.”
Casey froze, her hand flying to her cheek as tears began to gather in her eyes. She turned to Khloe, her gaze filled with shock and utter disbelief. “That’s impossible! How could she be your boss? Uncle Freddy, you must’ve got it wrong.”
“Wrong? There’s no mistake! Without her, there wouldn’t even be the Astro Research Center.”
Casey’s eyes widened in shock, her steps faltering as her mind went completely blank.
It hit her like a tidal wave—everything Khloe had said was undeniably true.
She truly was the founder of the Astro Research Center.
Just then, Khloe spoke in a calm, measured tone. “Freddy, your niece tried to frame me and destroy my career. What’s your plan to deal with her?”
Could Casey really be reckless enough to cross Khloe?
Freddy alone understood the true extent of Khloe’s brilliance. Without her, he wouldn’t have even scratched the surface of the lab’s core cancer cell research. Casey’s audacity to offend Khloe wasn’t just foolish—it was a direct threat to their family’s safety. Freddy’s expression darkened to an unsettling degree. Without a second thought, he slapped Casey once more. This time, the slap was fiercer, leaving a thin line of blood trailing from the corner of her mouth.
“You fool! You had the audacity to frame our boss and even attempt to blacklist her? From this moment forward, you’re out of the Astro Research Center!” Freddy bellowed furiously.

Casey froze, her expression shifting to pure terror as she shook her head in desperation.
“No, Uncle Freddy! Don’t kick me out. I was wrong, I swear!” Casey pleaded, lunging toward Freddy, but he shoved her away without mercy.
In a frantic panic, Casey shot a pleading glance at Freddy before turning her gaze to Khloe. She scrambled across the floor, clutching tightly to Khloe’s leg as though her life depended on it. “Khloe, I made a mistake. I’m so sorry. Please, forgive me. Don’t let Uncle Freddy fire me—I can’t afford to lose this job. Getting expelled from the Astro Research Center would ruin me!”
Casey sobbed, her voice thick with desperation.
She had fought tooth and nail to secure her place at the Astro Research Center. Everyone at Zhecrora University knew that expulsion was a permanent stain, a career death sentence that closed every door to future success.
Khloe’s expression hardened as she shot a disdainful glance at Casey. “Did you ever consider this outcome when you made your choice? When you decided to frame me, did it cross your mind that you’d one day face the repercussions?”
Casey’s sobs grew louder as she bowed her head over and over in a show of remorse. “I messed up. Please, just one more chance. I swear I’ll change. I won’t ever cross you again.”
Khloe stared down at Casey’s pathetic display, but not a shred of compassion stirred within her. She was fully aware that if she hadn’t been the founder of the Astro Research Center, Casey might have inflicted serious harm on her. “Opportunities aren’t handed out—they’re something you earn yourself.”noveldrama
Khloe’s gaze was as piercing as ice, her lips parting to deliver her verdict. “You’ll issue a public apology in the ZU auditorium. It will be livestreamed. You’ll confess your incompetence and outline every mistake you made during that surgery.”
Khloe’s words struck with unwavering certainty. Casey’s face drained of color. With her fists clenched, she nodded, her expression twisted in shame. “Alright. I’ll do it.”
