Chapter 1321 - 1247: The End of the Rain
Chapter 1321: Chapter 1247: The End of the Rain
A group of criminal police officers, carrying the smell of hot pot, rushed to the warehouse.
Upon entering the so-called compartment, several people at the scene almost vomited.
The two female victims had already been taken to the hospital. In a space roughly equivalent to a one-bedroom apartment, the inner room had chains and a bed, while the most conspicuous items in the outer room were a large shredder, a freezer, a big iron basin, and a pipe for washing the ground connected to the basin.
Inside the freezer were bags of human body fragments mixed with some packaged food and prepared dishes, which made people feel uneasy just looking at them.
The welding marks on the iron basin were heavy; its surface looked clean, but combined with other equipment, it was clear what the iron basin was used for.
"On the first day the two arrived, they watched Li Ningxia being dismembered in this iron basin, then frozen, and then shredded," Wang Chao, who came earlier, introduced in a low voice.
Jiang Yuan instinctively glanced at Liu Jinghui without saying a word.
Liu Jinghui understood and said in a low voice, "I haven’t asked yet, but it’s very likely that the two were forced to participate. Even if they weren’t required to kill and dismember bodies, they were likely involved in handling, cleaning, freezing, and shredding in the later stages."
"How is their mental state?" Jiang Yuan thought and assumed the conclusion was also like this.
"Just barely holding up, not completely broken down," Wang Chao responded again. It was also he who arranged for the two to be sent away first.
"Didn’t these two report missing?" Jiang Yuan asked further.
Wang Chao shook his head slightly, "No records. Both female victims worked in nightlife venues and had no immediate family. Their phones were controlled by the suspects. The two originally helped each other and ensured each other’s safety, but ended up being tricked together, likely set up elaborately. Based on their response, Zhang Zhanjun asked them many questions about familiar people and sent messages to some saying ’I’ve come ashore,’ before blocking and deleting them."
"This Zhang Zhanjun really knows his stuff. Many women in nightlife genuinely operate like this after leaving the scene," Wei Shikan just recovered from nausea and was drawn to Wang Chao’s explanation.
Wang Chao glanced up and down at Wei Shikan, "Are you under Captain Liu?"
"Just heard about it," Wei Shikan immediately denied. noveldrama
"What you’ve heard is somewhat common," Wang Chao turned and said, "Women leaving nightlife scenes blocking all friends and such is indeed common. As long as Zhang Zhanjun identifies his target and handles things carefully, controlling two people simultaneously... without solid evidence, their friends probably wouldn’t report it."
"Zhang Zhanjun is continually upgrading," Liu Jinghui suddenly remarked.
"How so?" Cui Qishan asked, cooperating.
Liu Jinghui said, "Let’s not talk about the motive for murder for now. In the first case, Zhang Zhanjun’s actions were the clumsiest. He killed an employee of his own company, a young and strong male, using an electrician’s knife related to his own identity. However, this also indicates that when he committed this case, Zhang Zhanjun was either unprepared or insufficiently prepared."
Liu Jinghui continued, "He might have already kidnapped Ye Qianyi at that time, so the murder is likely related to that. Afterward, Zhang Zhanjun’s actions became very deceptive. He took Ye Qianyi to kidnap Li Ningxia and then killed Ye Qianyi in front of Li Ningxia. From his actions in the warehouse, this was also intentional."
Cui Qishan slowly remarked, "It’s equivalent to some sort of obedience test."
"Very likely. He imprisoned each female for over a year, so obedience was indeed necessary," Liu Jinghui paused and continued, "Compared to the first two victims, the third victim, Li Ningxia, had even her body disposed of cleanly. As for the two surviving female victims, we didn’t even receive a missing person’s report..."
"Very strong learning and summarizing ability," Cui Qishan looked at the room’s setup and commented, "Just not humane."
Jiang Yuan silently equipped himself and started the crime scene investigation.
With the nature of this case being so heinous, the evidence on the scene must not fall short.
Cui Qishan, Liu Jinghui, Wei Shikan, and others gradually left, while Mu Zhiyang, Wen Ming, and several other technicians stayed inside to begin the nauseating and lengthy evidence collection process.
Theoretically, all the items in the warehouse compartment could serve as evidence to some extent, but taking everything back, like beds and mattresses, would be too much.
No matter how large the evidence storage facility, it couldn’t handle things this way.
Crime scene investigation personnel need to carefully select areas with potential information for evidence collection. For instance, in bedding items, the upper section of the bed, particularly the pillow area, should carry relatively comprehensive information. If a strip is torn off, it can theoretically reveal all persons who have slept there this round after washing.
However, a few random selections from other areas should also be made to prevent irregular sleeping positions.
The chains on the bed, the bathroom, and the big iron basin are all key evidence collection points.
The first items taken were the remains in the freezer. The crushed human tissues looked much like minced meat sold in supermarkets, but knowing the origin, it was nauseating even for a forensic doctor like Jiang Yuan.
By the time the crime scene investigation was almost complete, it was completely dark outside.
The lights in the compartment were shining brightly.
The warehouse was enveloped in pitch-black silence.
Outside the warehouse, on the suburban roads, even the street lights had gone out, leaving only the distant factory with a faint glow.
The police officers who had arrived with the wailing sirens were long gone with their noisy police cars. Even with Jiang Yuan at the scene, it wasn’t feasible to have so many people idle there.
Of course, Mu Zhiyang and others were still on the scene, albeit drowsily bored.
Pitter-patter.
Raindrops fell on the warehouse roof, making a sound akin to mouse clicks.
"Ding!"
The lights in the warehouse compartment suddenly went out.
Mu Zhiyang jumped up in a lazy roll, pressing one hand on the walkie-talkie and the other on his gun, whispering into the walkie-talkie, "Old Shen, report the situation!"
Outside the warehouse, Shen Yaowei and others were guarding the cars and couldn’t possibly crowd into the small warehouse compartment.
"I saw the warehouse lights go out. The factory lights outside are still on. We haven’t seen anyone. We’re guarding the warehouse door. I’m sending someone to check the back," Shen Yaowei said while starting to run.
"We’re moving out!" Mu Zhiyang said, signaling with a nod, grabbing a shield in one hand and pulling Jiang Yuan with the other.
Wen Ming followed closely with a shotgun at one side. Wang Chuanxing picked up a hydraulic cutter and chased after them.
The remaining criminal science technicians on site were primarily police officers, though unarmed, they prioritized carrying key evidence and followed suit.
In the long warehouse corridor, the splashes of rain sounding particularly dangerous.
Jiang Yuan placed his left hand on Mu Zhiyang’s shoulder, holding a handgun in his right, almost anticipating an enemy to appear.
It could only be an enemy; if flames were to burst, being in such a tightly enclosed warehouse, even in rainy weather, posed certain risks.
Szz...
The walkie-talkie crackled.
Shen Yaowei’s voice quickly came through, "The warehouse tripped the breaker. Now restoring it."
As soon as these words were spoken, the lights in the compartment behind them flicked back on.
"Guard the entrance," Mu Zhiyang focused solely on escorting Jiang Yuan out of the warehouse.
Shen Yaowei met the group at the warehouse entrance and said, "It might just be the breaker tripping."
"Hmm, bring a few more people and get the evidence inside transported out as soon as possible," Jiang Yuan looked up at the sky as raindrops fell densely, yet another rainy night.
