Emyr gave a nod, telling her that there was a small pavilion in the front courtyard of the annex where she could take a break. He then made his way through the temple doors.
Charmaine strolled slowly from the back courtyard toward the front. She noticed a crowd gathered outside the temple, all seemingly waiting for something. Before she could get close, an angry voice suddenly cut through the air, sharp and full of fury, "Charmaine, who allowed you to enter? Get out here this instant!"
Willard, clearly displeased, had made up his mind to meet with the abbot. But instead of finding Abbot Blaer, he found Charmaine leisurely walking out from inside.
It was like a hidden trigger had been pulled inside him, and without hesitation, Willard spun around and began shouting at Charmaine in fury.
Leah, standing nearby, raised an eyebrow, clearly surprised.
After Veronica's arrival at the airport the previous evening, she had sent Leah a barrage of voice messages, so Leah knew about Charmaine's visit to Sudbay.noveldrama
However, she hadn't expected Charmaine to come up to the mountain as well.
Could it be that Charmaine is facing a streak of bad luck and have come here to pray for blessings?
The thought crossed Leah's mind, and a mischievous smile spread across her face as she couldn't help but take some pleasure in the situation.
Watching the father and daughter exchange words, Charmaine let out a quiet click of her tongue, her patience clearly worn thin.
It seems the universe has a habit of bringing old adversaries together.
With a sarcastic grin, Charmaine commented, "I don't think I've ever heard it said that Mount Hyrul Monastery is part of your assets, Mr. Nelson."
Charmaine ignored Willard's furious glare and calmly entered the small pavilion beneath the courtyard wall.
The space was surrounded by plum trees, their bright red blossoms dusted with white snow. The mingling fragrances of the plum blossoms and sandalwood created an atmosphere of tranquility, bringing a sense of peace to the mind.
Willard, visibly frustrated, turned to a young monk still sweeping the snow in the courtyard. With an air of entitlement, he snapped at the monk, "What are you standing around for, boy? Get rid of these unnecessary people before they disturb the abbot!"
The young monk paused his sweeping, folded his hands in front of him, and replied with c n composure, "This lady is a guest of the abbot. Mr. Nelson, please be mindful and avoid causing a disturbance that might disrupt the monastery's peace."
Willard's eyes nearly popped out of his head.

For years, the Nelsons have donated close to a million dollars annually to the monastery, yet as the head of the family, I can barely get a moment with the abbot. And now, Charmaine, of all people, is being treated as a guest?
The other people in the courtyard, who had been quietly waiting, couldn't hold their tongues anymore. One spoke up, chastising Willard, "That young lady is sitting quietly, but you come barging in, yelling and acting all rude, just because you have some money. Just be quiet already."
"Yeah, exactly! We're all equal in front of the divine. What's with the arrogance?" someone else added.
Humiliated, Willard couldn't take it anymore. He stormed toward Charmaine, heading straight for the pavilion.
Before he could take another step, the young monk who had been sweeping the snow moved quickly, positioning himself between Willard and Charmaine with a peaceful yet firm stance.
Fuming with anger, Willard could only point at Charmaine and shout, "How dare you even show your face to the abbot! Someone like you, with a twisted heart and cruel intentions, should be worried about defiling this holy place and suffering the consequences!"
Charmaine didn't respond, but her cold gaze shifted upward, her eyes locking onto Leah, who was standing quietly behind Willard, her eyes narrowing with amusement.
Suddenly, Charmaine's lips curled into a chilling smile as she spoke softly, "There are indeed people here who have done many wrongs, and they will eventually get what they deserve."
Leah felt a jolt in her chest at Charmaine's words. Instinctively, she glanced at Charmaine and immediately felt a chill run down her spine. Charmaine's eerie smile only made her more uneasy, and she quickly stepped back behind Willard, growing more apprehensive by the second.
What does Charmaine mean by that? Does she know something?
Willard's expression darkened, his eyes flickering with coldness. His finger, still pointing at Charmaine, began to shake with barely contained rage. If it weren't for the monk in front of him, he would have lunged at Charmaine and put her in her place.
Then, something seemed to click in his mind, and a cruel smile spread across his face. "Ah, I've been wondering how someone like you could even meet with Abbot Blaer. So this is how you do it ...
"You seduced Leah's boyfriend at school, and now you come to Mount Hyrul, not even sparing a monk. Charmaine, you really are-"
"May God bless you."
A calm, distant voice suddenly interrupted Willard's tirade, freezing him in place.
Everyone turned as one, their attention fixed on Abbot Blaer, who had stepped out of the side hall, his robes flowing. His white eyebrows framed a pair of deep, compassionate eyes, which radiated a quiet strength.
"Harsh words wound the heart, Mr. Nelson. I ask you to be cautious with your speech."
Realizing his mistake, Willard's face flushed with embarrassment and panic. He quickly tried to salvage the situation, his expression shifting rapidly.
What do you think?
