Master of his heart (Brielle and Max)

Chapter 1495

Dustin sat there, casually tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ear. Peyton walked in, cradling a baby, her emotions swinging between laughter and tears.

"Dustin, look, Emma's given us a baby," she said, still a bit unsure about calling him by his first name but feeling that Mr. Lynch was too formal.noveldrama

Dustin stood up, clearly out of his element. This man, the youngest CEO of Infinity Brilliance, who could stand toe to toe with the likes of Max, now wore a look of panic on his face. Seeing the two wrinkly little faces brought close to him, he reached out, wanting to hold one but feeling unsure about how to do it right.

He felt like a failure, having been preoccupied with another woman just days before his future wife gave birth. Now, facing Emma after she had narrowly escaped death to bring their children into the world, he felt a deep sense of guilt.

Peyton mistook his hesitation for disapproval of the babies' appearance and quickly reassured him. "Babies always look a little wrinkly when they're first born. Give them a few days, they'll grow into their looks."

Dustin nodded, carefully taking one of the babies into his arms. The baby slept soundly, her cheeks rosy and skin fair, absolutely adorable. This was the girl; the boy had come out first. A smile played on Dustin's lips, his heart melting in that moment.

After placing the baby in a nearby crib, he looked up to see Emma was awake. Her eyes, upon seeing him, immediately filled with tears.

"Dustin," she called out, her voice breaking as the tears began to fall. He quickly took her into his arms, "Does it still hurt?"

Emma's wound was indeed painful, especially after the anesthesia wore off, throbbing intensely. Dustin had been injured more times than he could count, a hazard of his position and the enemies he'd made, but he couldn't bear to look at Emma's wound. He couldn't even watch when her bandages were changed. All he could do was comfort her, stay by her side.

When Emma saw their children, her eyes lit up. "All that morning sickness was worth it." She had two beautiful babies!

Dustin leaned in to kiss her cheek. "Thank you." Emma blushed, wanting to say that she had wanted this, that she had decided to keep the babies, that there was no need for thanks. But seeing him so happy, her smile widened.

During her hospital stay, Dustin was by her side constantly, even holding meetings at her bedside. Waking up to see him there made Emma feel incredibly secure. When he wasn't working, he spent time learning from other mothers in the hospitabhow to hole a baby. From initially being clueless to eventually being able to expertly mix formula and feed them.

Emma was slim, and even during pregnancy, she barely showed except for her belly, and struggled with milk production, so they had to use formula. Dustin cooked meals early in the morning, at noon, and in the evening, bringing them to her So, during her recovery, aside from the occasional pain from her wound, Emma was well taken care of by Dustin. He even handled the babies' crying, soothing them back to sleep and always ending with a kiss on her cheek. Emma would blush every time, at a loss for words. Especially when Peyton caught them, she wished she could just disappear.

Luckily, three days later, Brielle and Max returned. Brielle brought two bouquets of flowers, her eyes sparkling when she heard about the twins, rushing over to the crib. The girl was asleep, while the boy was in Dustin's arms being fed.

"Bro, your life's pretty much perfect now, isn't it?" Brielle teased.

Dustin raised an eyebrow, a soft laugh escaping him, "It is."

Max's envious gaze didn't go unnoticed as he watched Dustin gently soothe the little bundle in his arms. It wasn't until Brielle handed the sleeping girl to him that Max's awkwardness turned into a careful embrace, as if afraid of causing harm. The children had grown a bit, their big eyes and long lashes combining all of Dustin and Emma's best features, making them incredibly adorable. In that moment, Max's heart melted. He gently patted the baby's back, then signaled to Brielle.

"Wouldn't it be great if we had a little sister too?"
