Love That Wasn't Meant to Last

Chapter 57

On the other end, Sylvia seemed to be in the middle of a bustling city, as her voice was nearly drowned out by the background noise.

"Hudson, can you come to the train station in Adenville? I have a surprise for you," she shouted excitedly.

Adenville? The train station? I was confused. A terrifying thought crossed my mind.

I shook my head, trying to dispel it.

How was it possible? How was it possible? It was ridiculous. Why would Sylvia be

in Adenville? She had a job, and a busy one at that. There was no way she would have time to come here.

Despite my doubts, I decided to go check it out.

I made up a quick excuse to Selena. Though she was not happy by my sudden departure, she was bound by our previous agreement, so she reluctantly let me

go.

"Hudson, don't you run away from me," Selena said as she looked me in the eye. It had crossed my mind, but I knew it wasn't a real solution. Even if I left, Selena would eventually find a way to pull me back.

So, for now, I decided to just take things one step at a time.

I took a cab and spent nearly an hour getting to the main train station in Adenville.noveldrama

It was the busiest train station in Adenville. The station was buzzing with crowds when I arrived.

I stood by the landmark out front, looking at the throng of travelers, and frowned. I was just about to call Sylvia when I heard someone call my name from behind.

"Hudson, we meet again."

Seeing Sylvia appear in the crowd with her suitcase in hand left me momentarily blank.

"Sylvia, what are you doing here?"

I was surprised by her appearance as I had never imagined she would actually come all this way.

"It's because I missed you, of course." She pouted slightly. "I understand you can't come back, but if you can't come see me, then I'll just have to come to you."

For a moment, I didn't know how to even begin explaining to Selena that I had a girlfriend.

"You don't seem that happy to see me," Sylvia said, studying my expression with a frown.

She looked a little annoyed. "Are you not happy that I came?"

Honestly, my feelings were mixed.

On one hand, I was thrilled to see her. After waiting and yearning for her for so long, how could I not be? I believed anyone would be excited if the person they cared about suddenly appeared in front of them.

But on the other hand, her timing couldn't have been worse. Given Selena's current situation, how was I supposed to introduce Sylvia and explain who she was?

I was overwhelmed.

There was too much uncertainty. I was not sure what to do next.

Sylvia patted me on the shoulder, looking confident.

"Don't worry. I've already booked a hotel, so it doesn't matter if you're staying in a dorm or renting your own place. I've handled it all. No need to worry about accommodations."

She took a deep breath, closed her eyes for a moment, then opened them to gaze at the city's towering skyline.

"Adenville, I'm back," she murmured.
