Despite the formality expected of the family gathering, the atmosphere during the meal was laid-back and pleasant. After enjoying some lighthearted conversation, the group naturally transitioned to discussing the main agenda: solidifying the union between their families.

The primary topic of discussion was setting a date for the wedding, selecting gifts, and choosing a home for the couple. Norah did not seem to treat the matter with much importance. The wedding gifts were merely symbolic gestures of their well-wishes.

As each family had already contributed money as their wedding present, there was no reason to take it back. Moreover, neither family was poor. Their main concern was the future happiness of the young couple.

Ultimately, both families agreed on the plans.

Bernice took Norah’s hand gently. “Norah, when are you and Sean thinking of tying the knot?”

Norah looked towards Sean, ignoring his intense gaze. After thinking for a moment, she replied, “Next year. We’re too caught up in our careers this year to fit in a wedding and honeymoon.”

By the following year, Norah anticipated more stability at the hospital, which would allow her more free time.

Matteo agreed with a nod. “Okay, there’s no rush. Take all the time you need.”

Beneath the table, Norah and Sean clasped hands tightly. The support from their families made their union feel blissful. Her smile widened, and her eyes twinkled with happiness.

Following the family dinner, Sean frequently checked the calendar and picked the perfect day to take Norah to City Hall.

“Why did you call me Mr. Scott? What should you be calling me, huh?” Sean was displeased with her formal address. He set aside the certificate and leaned closer to Norah, his warm breath brushing against her ear. “I’ll give you one more try to get it right.”

Norah wrapped her arms around his neck. “Alright, no more teasing, hubby.”

“That’s right,” Sean murmured.

He gave her a quick kiss as a reward, then moved back to the driver’s seat and picked up the marriage certificate again.

He instructed, “Honey, hold onto this. I’m going to snap a picture and share it on Instagram.”

Sean’s Instagram feed was mostly followed by business associates and some acquaintances. He rarely posted; he typically only shared updates about financial policies or news every six months.

His unexpected post of the marriage certificate caught his followers off guard and prompted an avalanche of comments in no time.

Susanna typed, “Congratulations.”

Phillip commented, “Congrats, boss, on achieving your dream.”

“Congratulations, Mr. Scott.”

“Wish you a happy married life, Mr. Scott.”

Norah rested her head on his shoulder and listened as Sean read the comments beneath the post aloud. His unmistakably joyful, deep voice filled the car.

“Honey, marrying you was the best decision I will ever make.”

Sean suddenly raised his head to look at her, and his eyes brimmed with deep love.

He had come to understand that love could transform a person. He once believed he’d never marry or fall deeply in love.
