Love and Devotion No Longer His to Claim (Angela and Dexter)

Chapter 408

Dexter was so excited he couldn't sleep all night. He finally gave up trying and decided to wake Fiona up just so he could share his earth-shattering news.

Fiona had barely slept for an hour after burning the midnight oil for work.

When the knock on her door jolted her awake, her first instinct was to hurl a pillow at the culprit, but then she thought that maybe Angela needed help with

something.

She quickly got up and opened the door, only to find Dexter standing there with an oddly excited expression as if he wanted to say something but was holding back.

"What?" Fiona's voice came out hoarse. She'd pushed her voice too hard after days of lectures. Angela had even given her some medicine for it, but she hadn't gotten around to taking it.

Dexter walked in without hesitation and announced, "I have a girlfriend now."

Clearing his throat, he put on a composed front, concealing his excitement behind an air of nonchalance. He barely pulled it off.

Fiona frowned in surprise. Girlfriend? Since when did he have a girlfriend?

"Who is she?" she asked, feeling inexplicably irritated.

If this disappointing son of hers really had a girlfriend, what would that mean for her? Would she still be able to stay here?

She and Angela had gotten so close-closer than best friends, almost like mother and daughter. She wasn't ready to give that up.noveldrama

She quickly straightened up and shot him a warning glare. "I'm telling you now- whoever your girlfriend is, that's your business and has nothing to do with me.

"Consider me no longer your mother from this moment on. Your relationships are entirely your choice. When you decide to get married, just send me an invitation

"It's Angela," Dexter interrupted.

As their gazes met, Fiona narrowed her eyes. "What do you mean? You and Angela... are officially together? Or... is there something else you're trying to say?"

Fiona suddenly found it much harder to articulate her thoughts, making her words sound stiff and awkward.

"That's right. After some persistent effort on my part, she finally agreed to be my girlfriend," Dexter said, still trying to maintain a composed facade.

His tone was like that of a news anchor, calm and serious, but his eyes and eyebrows were practically dancing with joy. The contrast was almost comical.

Fiona shot up from her seat. She prided herself on her ability to keep a straight face in any situation, but at this moment, her eyes widened in disbelief. She stared at him for a long time, too shocked to speak.

"Really? Are you being serious?" After a moment, she stepped closer and placed a hand on his forehead muttering, "Are you sick? Maybe you're running a fever. You can't just say things like that. Angela's doing just fine-why on earth would she agree to date you?"

Dexter was speechless. Whatever. He'd known this would happen anyway.

"Enough said; I need to go learn something very important." Looking a little smug, he got up and left with an air of confidence.

Fiona stared blankly at his retreating figure, then touched her own forehead. She wasn't running a fever either.

After a long silence, she decided she should just talk to Angela.

That night, no one got a good night's sleep.

The next morning, both Angela and Fiona slept in late. By the time they finally dragged themselves into the livingroom, a certain man was already sitting there, waiting patiently.

Nearby, a maid was helping Mia take care of Leo.

The dining table was overflowing with a luxurious breakfast spread. Even Angela, who usually had a poor appetite in the morning, was drawn in by the tempting aroma of food.

"Wow, did Darlene sign up for new cooking classes recently or something?" Angela couldn't help but exclaim.
