Chapter 845 I Won't Went Back With You

In the evening, Ruby came back and found out that Theodore had moved into the

house. Upon hearing the news, she felt a mix of emotions.

Phoebe sat by her bed, looking at the sleeping Hubert, and said, "If you feel uncomfortable..."

"No, I'm just worried," Ruby glanced at Phoebe and decided to speak her mind, "Can he really accept the kids?"

"I don't know, maybe he'll try to accept them." Phoebe picked at her fingers; she hadn't really thought about this before.

She had resisted Theodore's advances before because she was afraid of falling for him, only to find out he couldn't accept the kids, which would leave her heartbroken.

Ruby sighed, "How many men in this world can accept the person they love having children with someone else, especially a proud and arrogant man like Mr. Reynolds?"

Phoebe's expression darkened.

Seeing this, Ruby quickly added, "Phoebe, I didn't mean anything by it. Maybe my perspective is too limited. If Mr. Reynolds still has feelings for you, he will definitely accept the kids. Besides, Hubert, Boris, and Noomi are so adorable, who wouldn't like them?"

Phoebe looked up at her, "You don't need to comfort me. When I decided to have the kids, I was also thinking of completely breaking off with him. I can accept whatever the future holds."

"Phoebe, I'm not good with words," Ruby said guiltily, "but I want to say, you've suffered so much because of him, don't give your feelings to him too quickly, you understand what I mean?"

Phoebe understood, but feelings weren't like a faucet that one could turn off and on at will. She couldn't be that rational.

"Let's not talk about me. What's going on with you and Donovan?"

Ruby's face instantly turned red. After they had sex yesterday, she thought their relationship would progress.

But this morning, when she went to the villa, Donovan had Trevor give her a stack of money, saying it was compensation for what happened yesterday.

Seeing that stack of money, she felt her blood run cold.

Donovan was always looking for opportunities to humiliate her. Yesterday, he treated her like a woman he could pay to sleep with.

She bit her lip and said, "It's complicated."

Phoebe looked at her and said, "You can't let Donovan walk all over you. The more you let him, the worse he'll get. But deep down, he's not a bad guy."

"I know," Ruby said sullenly.

Phoebe saw her expression and knew she had been wronged by Donovan. She said, "Actually, Donovan and I grew up without our father. My mom worked as a maid for the Vanderbilt family and was always busy. We grew up with Brian and Edward. They were real rich kids, and we were the children of servants. The disparity in status made Donovan extremely sensitive and insecure, and he lacked love."

Ruby lowered her head, thinking about how Donovan had been easily deceived by Darlene and then quickly fell in love with her. It was all because he lacked love.

So, the faster he fell in love back then, the more he hated her now.

"I don't blame him. I deserve the punishment."

Phoebe sighed, "The fact that he's still alive is the best news. As for the future, it's up to us, right?"

"Yeah."

Phoebe comforted her a bit more and then suddenly remembered something, "By the way, I heard the Adams Group recently had a financial crisis. Have they contacted you?"noveldrama

Ruby remembered being surrounded by bodyguards that day and almost being taken back to the Adams family. She was startled, "I haven't heard about it."

"Then be careful when you go out. Take Keith or Louis with you," Phoebe advised.

She didn't know if it was her imagination, but ever since Donovan reappeared, both the Vanderbilt family and the Adams family had encountered problems. However, she didn't think much of it.

Donovan could afford a villa in Lakeview Estates, but he might not be able to shake two powerful families.

After Phoebe left, Ruby looked at Ethan and thought about how Donovan had been going out frequently and some strangers had been coming to the villa.

She didn't know what Donovan was up to, but her intuition told her it wasn't anything good.

She forced herself not to overthink, but the next day, Mr. and Mrs. Adams came looking for her.

The next morning, after Phoebe finished washing up and went out, she saw Theodore coming out of his room next door.

"Morning!" Phoebe greeted him cheerfully.

Theodore glanced at her and slowly walked over, looking into the room behind her, "Are the kids still sleeping?"

"Yeah, they usually sleep until eight. Did you sleep well last night?" Phoebe asked. Theodore put one hand in his pocket, "Do you want to hear the truth or a lie?"

"A lie," Phoebe didn't fall for his trick.

Theodore's eyes were deep, "I slept well, dreamless all night."

Just as she was about to speak, they heard a commotion downstairs. She exchanged a glance with Theodore and quickly went downstairs.

Downstairs, Mr. and Mrs. Adams were carrying gifts, being blocked by Keith and Louis in the courtyard. Ruby stood pale at the entrance, not daring to go out and face them.

Seeing Phoebe walking over quickly, Ruby said, "Phoebe, my parents are here. I'm a bit scared of them."

Phoebe squeezed her hand, "Don't come out yet. I'll go see what's going on. Don't worry, as long as you don't want to, they have no right to take you back."

Ruby was very nervous, but seeing Phoebe's determined expression, she felt reassured.

Phoebe walked out of the villa and into the courtyard, standing in front of the couple. Nancy was the first to speak, "Ms. Ziegler, I heard you found a rich man abroad and came back as a boss. We haven't had a chance to congratulate you."

Phoebe listened to the sharp and sarcastic words but didn't get angry. She said, "Mr. Adams, Mrs. Adams, I hope you're well."

"We're not here to make small talk. We're here to take Ruby home," Nancy said loudly, "Ruby, come out. We're here to take you home."

Seeing Nancy's attitude, Phoebe knew they weren't here with good intentions.

She said, "Ruby went out early this morning. You came at a bad time. Why don't you come in and sit for a while?"

Nancy didn't believe Phoebe, "Phoebe, this is a family matter. I hope you don't meddle."

"Mrs. Adams, with all due respect, Ruby and I are family too. How can you say I'm meddling?" Phoebe remained calm and gentle.

Nancy glared at her, "No matter what you say, we are Ruby's biological parents. We are here to take her home, and you can't stop us."

"If Ruby were a minor, I wouldn't hesitate to agree to let you take her. But she's in her twenties now, an adult. Her decisions are her own."

"Are you hiding her from us with ulterior motives?" Charles said fiercely.

Phoebe narrowed her eyes, about to speak, when Ruby's voice came from behind, "You should leave. I'm not going back with you."
