CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery

Chapter 1711

With Jamie's growing ambitions and dedication, her schedule became increasingly demanding. She was out early and back late, and soon, their time together became so staggered that Ben hardly saw her at all. Having already experienced separation, Ben deeply cherished every moment he spent with Jamie. Now, with her so busy, he wasn't having it.

That evening, he cornered her. "I used to think we could balance everything-home, work, and family. But look at us now. Jamie, are you really okay leaving me and Charlie alone at home? Do I need to make an appointment just to see you?" Jamie hadn't expected him to say that and let out a soft laugh. "I'm just busy right now, Ben. Once things settle down, I'll have more time for you, okay?"

She wanted to catch up to him, to stand beside him as his equal. She didn't want to just be known as Mrs. Lucas, the wife who depended on Ben. She wanted to be someone who could walk shoulder to shoulder with him.

Ben frowned, clearly unconvinced. "Jamie, once something becomes a habit, it's hard to stop it from repeating. I've been where you are and I know how this works. Do you really think you can brush me off that easily?" Jamie sighed, exasperated. "How am I brushing you off? Ben, you promised to support me. Now you're acting like you've changed your mind just because I'm busy. Is that it?"

Ben's lips pressed into a firm line. He didn't respond, but his silence spoke volumes.

In his mind, he suddenly found himself considering his mother's suggestion about having more kids. Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea after all.

"Jamie," Ben said, his voice soft but resolute, "we're still young. Why don't we have a few more kids?"

Before Jamie could react, he scooped her up into his arms.

"Ben Lucas! What are you doing?" she yelped, struggling against his hold. "Didn't you tell me we'd wait to have more kids? You-"

"I changed my mind," he cut her off, sealing her protest with a kiss.

Jamie wasn't his match when it came to this. Her body, too familiar with him, betrayed her resolve.

When it was over, they were both too tired to move. However, Jamie had no intention of having another child so soon, so she took a birth control pill.

When Ben say her take the pill, his

expression darkened, a hint of displeasure in his voice. "Would it really be so bad to have a few more kids while we're still young? Jamie, I just want you by my side all the time." ,

His words carried a deeper weight, a lingering fear of loss.

Hadn't he already overcome the emotional scars and anxieties from their years apart? Why was this feeling of insecurity resurfacing now?

Jamie sat up, her voice steady and serious. "Ben, it's not that I don't want kids. I just think now is the time for me to focus on my career. You used to understand that. What changed?

"No matter how busy I am or what

I'm doing always come back home, don't I? You're still my husband, and I'm still here with you. I can't possibly spend 24 hours glued to your side."

Ben didn't miss a beat. "Then let me come with you. I'll be your assistant or secretary."

Jamie couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of his suggestion. "You? My assistant? Do you know what kind of gossip that would stir up don't need people talking behind my back, Ben. And you're still the CEO of Lucas Corporation. Do you

want your employees joking about

you?"

Ben shrugged dismissively. "Let them talk. Their opinions don't matter. They can't walk the path I'm on."

Jamie shook her head, cutting him off. "Enough! We're not having another baby right now. If you keep bringing this up, I swear I'll be mad. And trust me, you don't want to see me angry." Faced with her firm stance, Ben could only sigh in defeat.noveldrama
