Chapter 143
Although Aaron had managed to locate Moonhaven, finding Moonhaven Town in such a short time seemed impossible.
And it was even more improbable for him to reach there before Serena left.
After thinking it over, there seemed to be only one possibility: someone had betrayed them.
But his family would never betray Serena.
Serena had considered this too.
However, too much had happened last night, leaving her little time to reflect.
"Recently, no strangers have come to Moonhaven Town... except..." "Except who?"
"Except for Joy's classmate," Serena said, looking ahead. "But I don't think he would betray me."
Serena hadn't interacted much with Rock, but she always saw a younger version of herself in him.
Besides, Rock didn't seem like the kind of person who would sell someone out for personal gain.
Samuel glanced at Serena.
He hesitated to speak.
Serena was kind-hearted.
But the world was not purely white; it was a mix of black and white.
He was determined to find out who had betrayed Serena.
At Vance Holdings, Aaron stared at his computer screen, unable to focus.
Last night, he discovered that William had taken Serena away. After tracking them, he finally found Serena.
She was at a fast-food place, huddled by the transparent glass window like an abandoned child.
Looking at Serena, Aaron felt a stabbing pain in his heart.
He still didn't understand how things had reached this point between them.
"Ding dong-"
The phone's notification interrupted Aaron's thoughts.
He glanced at it, and his eyes widened.
On the lit-up screen, Serena and Samuel were close together, sunlight
illuminating her face, her beautiful eyes like sparkling stars.
He quickly grabbed his phone and dialed Frederick's number.
"Where are they?!"
Frederick sighed silently.
He knew Aaron hadn't really moved on.noveldrama
"Aaron, don't forget the promise you made with Serena!"
Frederick sent the photo to Aaron, hoping it would help him let go.
Serena had started a new life.
It was time for Aaron to begin his own.
"Tell me, where are they?"
Frederick reluctantly replied, "...Camphor Avenue.”
With a sharp click, the call ended.
Frederick sighed again.
...
Serena and Samuel spent the afternoon house hunting and finally found the perfect place.
Located in the suburbs, the house had great transport links and seemed tailor- made for her.
Situated on the twenty-eighth floor, it was a duplex with a massive floor-to-ceiling window offering a stunning river view.
The landlord's taste matched hers perfectly.
With its rustic wooden decor and high-end furniture, the place was a dream. If the landlord hadn't moved abroad, Serena would have wanted to exchange contact information and befriend them.
"Now that the house is settled, what's your next plan?" Samuel asked during dinner.
“Hmm...” Serena stirred her soup thoughtfully. "I'm not sure yet. There's no restoration center here in Alderburg. If I want to work on antiques, I'll have to find clients myself. But without a reputation, no one is likely to trust me with their treasures."
Samuel admired her profile. "Don't worry too much. Things have a way of working out."
"Yeah." Serena nodded slightly.
She truly wasn't in a rush.
After dinner, Serena and Samuel parted ways, each heading to their respective homes.
What do you think?
