Burn the Marriage, Keep the Crown

Chapter 116

Serena demanded, "So, what's your point?"

"Stay away from him, or you'll end up just being another pawn in his game," Aaron warned.

Serena scoffed, "Aaron, you're the most hypocritical person I've ever met."

"Didn't you promise me you'd stop seeing Cynthia Lynwood? Yet, you went to see her anyway. How do you have any right to demand anything from me?"

Aaron's expression darkened. "When did I ever meet her?"

"Oh, please. You're still lying? Didn't you take her to the amusement park?"

Aaron was momentarily taken aback. In the whirlwind of his busy days, he'd nearly forgotten.

"I took Cynthia to the amusement park because she was leaving Alderburg the next day. Her only wish before leaving was for me to accompany her there."

Serena was tired of arguing with Aaron.noveldrama

Once someone has broken a promise, it could happen again for other reasons.

"Has Cynthia Lynwood really left Alderburg?" She found herself more interested in this point now, especially with their wedding on the horizon. Cynthia's departure seemed unlikely to her.

"Yeah, she left on a flight around four this afternoon. If you don't believe me, you can check."

Serena replied, "No need."

With Cynthia Lynwood gone, would the wedding really proceed without a hitch? That was the last thing Serena wanted.

"I won't see Cynthia again. You should stop meeting up with William," Aaron said as he stood up, his dark eyes fixed intently on Serena. Even from a distance, his presence was commanding.

Serena lowered her gaze, "Got it."

Not only would she see William, but she planned to enlist his help to leave Aaron.

Satisfied that Serena seemed to have calmed down, Aaron said, "Get some rest," and walked out.

Serena waited until she couldn't hear his footsteps anymore before picking up her phone. She opened her messaging app and saw a message from Rock.

[Sis, I looked into what you asked. I found no record of you having a compatibility test with someone named Cynthia Lynwood. Are you sure you got the name right?]

Serena stared at the forty-odd words for over a minute, feeling as cold as ice. She and Cynthia Lynwood had never been tested for compatibility.

There was only one explanation: Cynthia Lynwood didn't want her kidney; she wanted her life.

A terrifying thought struck Serena. She grabbed her phone and typed with trembling fingers: [Check out someone named Matthew for me. He was recently sentenced. Find out what for.]

Rock replied swiftly, just ten minutes later.

[Assault, but there aren't many details released about the case. If you want more information, you might want to ask Mr. Vance; he was the defendant.]

The tension in Serena's mind snapped. She finally understood why Aaron had been so eager to send Cynthia Lynwood away. He must have discovered something significant.

They say a parent's love for their child knows no bounds. Aaron claimed he saw Cynthia Lynwood as a sister, but the lengths he went to for her far surpassed even what her biological parents might do.

Without hesitation, Serena opened her contacts and dialed William's number.
