Be Your Lover Forever (Alicia)

Chapter 1284

"What's wrong, Yvette?"

Lauren felt rather baffled as she cradled Yvette in her arms. She had intentionally worked on her morning routines since she was a baby, but Yvette had never been this difficult, even though she'd wake up a little grumpy on some mornings.

"Are you unwell?"

Lauren wiped her snot and felt her forehead.

"Could she have caught a cold from having too much fun last night?" Willy couldn't help feeling anxious, seeing how weak Yvette looked. "I'll get the thermometer!"

Lauren, on the other hand, patted Yvette to comfort her. "Yvette, tell Mommy, do you feel pain anywhere?"

Yvette kept her eyes shut tight, instinctively nuzzling closer to her, still fussing, "Sleepy, no school, Mommy! I want to sleep, no school..."

Seeing that she clearly wasn't feeling herself, Lauren continued to comfort her.

"Okay, okay, we won't go today. I'll ask for sick leave for you, but you have to be honest with me. Does your throat hurt? How about your nose?" Worried that Yvette couldn't express herself clearly, Lauren checked with her from place to place. But she was visibly sluggish that day, barely wanting to talk, only nuzzling deeper into her arms and blanket apart from shaking her head.

Willy took her temperature and suggested, "It's a little high. We should take her to the hospital!"

But just as he bent over, wanting to pick her up, Yvette suddenly burst into tears. "Wah... No hospital. I don't want to go to the hospital! No needle, Mommy. I'll go to school..."

Willy stumped that instant while Lauren quickly comforted her.

"Okay, okay, we won't go to the hospital! Daddy's only messing with you! We won't go anywhere, no hospital, no school. We'll just stay at home. I'll stay here with you. Don't be afraid, okay, baby girl?"

Lauren felt her forehead and comforted Yvette for a while before turning to Willy.

"She got scared when she was little, so she's a little resistant to it. Don't worry! She's got a strong immune system. Let's put an antipyretic patch on her and see how she does..."

After explaining, Lauren comforted Yvette a little more before putting her back on the bed.

They spent quite a good chunk of the morning taking care of Yvette. Seeing Willy's phone kept flashing, and he left to answer it quite a few times, Lauren got up and checked the time after feeding Yvette some water.

"Why don't you go and settle your business first!"

"It's all my fault! I shouldn't have let her get so crazy last night!"

Lauren couldn't help smiling slightly, seeing him blaming himself. Their little one had really scared him, hadn't she?

"Children have a poorer immune system; it's normal for them to catch a cold or get a fever. Don't worry; I'll be here to take care of her." She smoothed the creases on his shirt and nodded.

"Have some breakfast before you go!"

With that, Willy pulled her into his arms and gave her a deep kiss. "Thanks! I'll go and meet a client and come back as soon as I can! Call me if anything!"

As he spoke, he looked worriedly over at Yvette.

Right then, truly nothing in the world was more important than his two ladies. Seeing that his daughter was sound asleep, he thought it was a good time to settle his work!

"Alright!"

Worried about Yvette's condition,

Willy rushed to his office in hopes of returning as soon as possible. An entire morning was gone by the time he exited the lounge. He first called Lauren up, heaving a sigh of relief after learning Yvette was asleep and her temperature had gone down.

Checking the time, he suggested, "In that case, Laurie, I won't go back just yet! Yeah, I'll arrange everything in the company today and take tomorrow off to accompany Yvette..."

Reaching an agreement, Willy hung up and rushed to the conference room. He got so busy in the company that he barely even had time for lunch. But whenever Lauren and Yvette came to his mind, his heart would be warm all over, filled with energy, not the least bit tired.

It wasn't until three in the afternoon that he finally finished going through all the papers, beginning to feel famished. He had someone order takeout and bring it to him as he tidied his desk. Later, he called Lauren again while he ate.

"Her temperature has gone up again? How?"

Lauren was even more anxious, being on the other end of the line.

"I don't know. She was feeling much better at noon and even ate. She was still fine when I took her temperature an hour ago. I played with her for a while, and she had just gone to sleep. I rechecked her temperature, and her fever came back! No, I really should take her to the hospital!"

"She's whining in her sleep; I can't help wondering if she's aching somewhere! I'll talk to you later. I better get her changed before it's too late..." Hearing that, Willy got worried as well, "Take it easy. Wake her up first; I'll pick you guys up now!"

As he spoke, he got up, grabbed his keys, and rushed out the door.

As he drove, his phone rang again. Seeing it was Cloud, he decided not to answer.

However, his ringtone came again before he even drove past two blocks. Already distressed, Cloud's call had him feeling irritated, answering it with an unpleasant tone.

"Cloud, what is it? I'm very busy now!"

"Willy, Dory has a high fever! She's seriously ill, and she kept asking for Daddy. Please come and see her, will you? Please, I'm begging you. She won't stop crying and fussing!"

Cloud's anxiety was self-explanatory as a childish cry came from the background. However, equally anxious, Lauren's worried voice came to Willy right then.

"Take her to the hospital then. Why are you calling me? I've long told you not to let her simply acknowledge her father. I don't have the time now! You better quickly find another solution. Don't waste your time on me!"

With that, he hung up as he hit the gas.

Cloud called several times again as he drove. Though irritated, Willy didn't take it to heart, only wishing to get home as quickly as possible.

Right as he pulled over in front of the mansion, her call came again, and he hit the roof that instant, answering the call, only to hear a bawl that instant.

"Willy, the doctors said Dory's white

blood cell count suddenly shot up. It's getting out of hand; she might not make it. Please come to the hospital and see her, will you? She keeps calling for Daddy. Please, I'm begging you, come and see her! She doesn't have much time left. This might be her last wish in life!"

The sudden news rendered Willy dumbstricken.

Right, the mansion's gates opened, and Lauren coincidentally heard Cloud's plea just as she came out carrying Yvette. Her voice wasn't loud, but it was enough for Lauren to hear it clearly.

The two froze for a few seconds as their eyes met. Willy reflexively moved his phone away while Lauren suggested nearly at the same time.

"Why don't you go and take a look. I'll take Yvette to the hospital!"

She was a mother herself as well. Plus, with her daughter unwell right then, she suddenly understood what it must've felt like for Cloud. With life and death on the line, she didn't think too much either.noveldrama
