Chapter 110
As the evening wound down, the warmth of the day lingered, filling me with a sense of calm I hadn't felt in a long time. The twins and I had returned to our hotel room, our mood light after the photoshoot. It had been perfect-a day where everything had fallen into place, where for a moment, I'd let myself believe that things were normal.
But then the peace was shattered.
Nathan was the first to notice something off. He had been checking his phone, scrolling through messages when he frowned. "Ella," he said, his voice tight. "I can't get through to anyone in Alaska."
I blinked, the weight of his words taking a second to sink in. "What do you mean?"
I asked, my tone sharp as I crossed the room to where he stood.
He handed me his phone, showing the screen filled with failed call attempts. "No one's answering."
Tristan, sitting by the window, glanced up. “That's weird. I thought I saw a message from Adonis earlier."
My stomach dropped, an unsettling feeling creeping in. I grabbed my phone and tried calling as well, my fingers moving faster as panic began to build. The line rang once, twice, then nothing. I tried again. Nothing. No calls were getting through, no messages were being received.
"Something's wrong," I whispered, my heart pounding.
Nathan's brow furrowed, his hand already moving to grab his jacket. "We need to go back. Now."
I nodded, already in motion, packing what little we had brought with us. Tristan was right behind me, his usual carefree attitude replaced by the seriousness of the situation.
But just as we were about to leave, my phone buzzed in my hand-a single message flashing across the screen. It was from Luna, Sara's mother.
Help. Things are going wrong with Adonis and Sara.
My blood ran cold. I stared at the screen, my mind racing to process the words. Luna never asked for help. She was one of the strongest women I knew, fierce and unwavering. For her to send a message like this... it meant something was terribly wrong.
Nathan's voice cut through my panic. "Ella? What is it?"
I held up the phone, showing them the message. Nathan's face went pale, and Tristan's expression darkened.
"I have to go, you guys should head towards Airport and I will meet you there. No questions please." I said, my voice trembling as I fought to keep my emotions in check. "Now."
Without another word, we rushed out the door, the carefree day behind us, replaced by a growing sense of dread. Whatever was happening in Alaska, it was bad. But Luna wouldn't have reached out otherwise.
Twins went their way and I towards Stoneheart packhouse.
My thoughts raced back to the strange presence I had felt earlier at the photoshoot, the malicious gaze that had disappeared before I could find its
source.
I had shrugged it off then, but now, I couldn't help but wonder if that had been a warning.
Sara's POV
I walked into the Stoneheart packhouse with Ryan by my side, the weight of the wedding photos tucked under my arm like a time bomb. It was stupid, maybe, to come back here with these pictures. But part of me-no, most of me wanted to see the look on Adonis's face when he saw them.
I wanted to remind him that I wasn't his little girl anymore. That I didn't care about his approval, not when he never gave it freely anyway. And I knew these photos, the wedding dress, the smiles, would cut deep.
Ryan squeezed my hand, a silent question in his eyes as we crossed the threshold. He knew what I was doing, but he didn't say anything to stop me. He never did. That was one of the reasons I loved him-he let me make my own mistakes, even when he didn't agree with them.
As we entered the packhouse, I could feel the tension already in the air. Adonis was in his usual place, standing near the fireplace, arms crossed, that cold, unyielding expression etched into his features. Luna, my mother, was seated nearby, her gaze flicking between Adonis and me, knowing full well what was about to go down.
I didn't waste time. I walked right up to him and tossed the photos on the table between us, the glossy prints sliding across the wood. The top one showed Ryan and me in our wedding attire, smiles plastered on our faces as we kissed in front of the Seattle skyline. Contént
Adonis's eyes darkened immediately, his jaw tightening. "What's this?" His voice was low, a dangerous calm to it that I recognized all too well.
I shrugged, crossing my arms as I met his glare. "What does it look like?"
He picked up the photo, his knuckles white around the edges as he stared at it. "You did this to provoke me."
I tilted my head, a smirk tugging at the corners of my lips. "Maybe. Or maybe I'm
just living my life without needing your approval for every little thing."
His eyes snapped to mine, the anger flaring. "This is about more than just my approval, Sara! You're challenging me, undermining me!"
I scoffed. "Challenging you? I'm not even trying to be Alpha, Adonis. You stepped down. Remember? Or do you expect me to follow every outdated rule you clingnoveldrama
to?"
He slammed the photo down, stepping forward. "You bonded with a mate without informing your pack, without informing me! Do you think this is some kind of game? You know the risks, and yet you continue to act like a rebellious child
I bristled at that. "A child? I'm not a child. I'm a grown woman, and I don't need you to approve of my choices!"
Ryan remained silent by my side, a steady presence but not intervening. This was my fight, and he knew it.
Adonis's voice rose, frustration clear. "You don't get to defy me and then flaunt it in my face. You're my daughter, and you will show respect to this pack, to your family!"
I laughed bitterly, my anger bubbling over. "Respect? Respect is a two-way street, Adonis! And when have you ever respected me? When have you ever seen me for more than the daughter who wasn't Ella?"
That hit the mark, I could see it in his eyes. His lips tightened, his hands clenching into fists. For a brief moment, he said nothing, and I could feel the weight of the silence pressing down on the room.
Luna stood then, her hand outstretched toward Adonis. "Please, Adonis. Don't-"
He cut her off sharply, his eyes never leaving mine. "No. She needs to learn. If you cannot abide by this pack's traditions, if you cannot respect your family and your Alpha, then maybe you don't belong here."
My heart skipped a beat, the weight of his words settling in. He was serious. He was actually telling me to leave.
I felt Ryan stiffen beside me, his hand gripping mine tighter. "What are you saying?" I asked, my voice quieter now but filled with disbelief.
Adonis's eyes narrowed. "I'm saying, if you can't respect the pack, then you don't need to be a part of it. Leave."
I stared at him, my heart pounding in my chest, the world spinning. This was the man who raised me, who was supposed to protect me. And now he was telling me to go. To leave the only home I had ever known.
Ryan stepped forward, his voice calm but firm. "Adonis, you're making a mistake." Adonis didn't look at him. His eyes were locked on mine, a battle of wills neither of us wanted to lose.
down. Not now.
But I couldn't back Not after everything. I swallowed the lump in my throat and straightened my spine, the defiance burning in my chest Fine,” I said, my voice steady despite the pain coursing through me. "If that's what you want, I'll go."
But before I could take another step, Adonis's voice stopped me cold.
"You're no longer part of this pack, Sara."
It was final.
What do you think?
