Chapter 354 Letting Things Happen in Due Time
Janet's expression darkened slightly as she rolled her eyes at Sierra. "Such a suck-up. Always trying to please Edward."
Sophie overheard her, and a flash of agreement crossed her eyes. She looked up and asked, "Aunt Sierra, did you only buy clothes for Mr. Gray Senior?"
When Sierra looked over, she showed a look of disappointment. "I thought we'd get something too."
Sierra caught the hint of insinuation in her words and felt a flicker of irritation. "What's their problem today?" she wondered. "Are they deliberately trying to make things difficult for her?"
"If you want something, ask Benson," she replied coolly. "I may be your aunt, but I'm not obligated to buy you gifts."
Sophie's face flushed red. She wanted to snap back but couldn't find the right words. To make matters worse, Benson kept sneaking glances at Sierra, which only made her stomach churn with anger.
They stayed with Edward until 11:00 pm, sharing a meal of ravioli before retiring to their rooms.
Sierra changed into her pajamas and lay in bed, nervously clutching a small gift box hidden under her pillow. When the bathroom door opened, she tensed slightly.
As Theo sat on the bed, she mustered her courage, calling out, "Theo."
"Yeah?" Hearing his name, he felt something stir within him. He set aside the towel he'd been using to dry his hair and turned to her attentively.noveldrama
Their eyes met for a few seconds before she was the first to break. Her voice trembled slightly. "I...Actually, I got you a gift too."
Theo was surprised. The usually composed man couldn't hide his anticipation. "What is it?"
Sierra handed him the gift box, trying to keep a straight face, but her sincerity was evident. "I thought it would suit you."
When he opened it and saw the exquisite pair of cufflinks inside, his heart raced. His fingers traced the cool blue sapphire as he said firmly, "I love them."
Then, he pulled the nervous woman in front of him into his arms and whispered in her ear, "Thank you, Sierra."
Some words were better kept in his heart. "Thank you for coming into my life. Thank you for agreeing to marry me. Thank you... for trying to like me!"
Sierra hugged him back and murmured softly, "Happy New Year, Theo."
He loosened his grip. As he gazed at her gentle, pliant form, a surge of emotion swept through him, and he bent down to kiss her.
This time, he didn't just brush past her lips-he lingered, savoring their softness. When she finally relaxed, he seized the moment, claiming her with a deep, commanding kiss.
His tall frame pressed against her petite body. His scorching, dominant presence made it hard for her to keep her eyes open. Her hands, resting on his shoulders, grew weaker, losing their strength.
His large hand tightened slightly around her waist, pulling her even closer. Sierra felt Theo's desire and jolted back to awareness, weakly patting his firm back in protest.
He opened his eyes to find the woman beneath him, tears clinging to the corners of her eyes. Her flushed face gazed up at him, stirring a dull ache in his lower abdomen. His eyes darkened with desire, unwilling to part from her sweet red lips.
"Don't be afraid," he said, his voice rough with suppressed need. "I won't do anything just let me hold you."
Sierra didn't speak, only lowered her eyes and buried her head against his chest.
Theo wrapped his arms around her, closing his eyes as he fought to calm the fire inside him.
After more than ten minutes, the heat in their cheeks faded. Once they had cooled down, they found themselves too embarrassed to look at each other.
"I'm sorry." Sierra, with a hint of guilt, explained in a low voice. "It's not that I don't want to... I just don't want things to move too fast."
As his wife, she knew she shouldn't have turned him down in that situation. But their relationship was still developing, and she didn't want to give herself to him on impulse. She wanted to wait until their love deepened. Only then would everything unfold naturally.
